I learned so much! From peace building and leadership skills to world cultures. went in 2013 and by the time the program ended I did not want to go back home and leave my friends I had made. I met so many Iraqi kids and understand the Middle East a lot more. I can now saw that I have friends who live in Baghdad. The food was homemade/grown and vegetarian and was multicultural. I admittedly didn't enjoy myself until halfway through the program because I have trouble making new friends. One night we shared out feelings and I told everyone I felt like no one ever accepting me and I was having a really hard time emotionally lately, and no matter how hard I tried people never liked me. People immediately respected me and treated me better acted less cliquey. In the end I really enjoyed myself and things balanced out. I highly recommend GYV!
