I went to this camp for 2 years. The first year, there was a whole scandal about a girl hiding very bad things, and counclers leaving. The second year, we rode 4 times in the 2 weeks and most of the time just stayed in the cabins. The cabins were nice, although bathrooms half a mile away. The owner isn't fit for the job. As much as I had fun, its really not the safest camp. There was only one councler. I believe that they are also in leagle drama due to horse neglection. Lots of fun, but really not the safest place. The owner also told campers their "vegatarianism" is all in their head. Not allowed use of indoor arena. The barn is nice, but the horses aren't taken care of. They are barefoot and thier hooves are severly over grown. Only around 7 girls per session. Bathrooms & SHOWERS in barn. I have made unforgettable friends, but don't swpie your credit cards because they haven't even updated their website to 2018. Friend also broke their arm and didn't get help until after camp.

Very unsanitary. I was woken up everyday by flies landing on my face and mice squeaking and scratching in the cabin. No laundry services, had to rewear extremely dirty clothes for two weeks. They basically used us as free labor to take care of the horses and the work around the barn. Don't believe what they say about 1 horse per camper, I had to share my ill-trained horse with three other girls. Almost no supervision, they even forgot to feed us frequently and we had to raid the kitchen and make ourselves food. They took a 10-year-old to see Sausage Party, an R-rated movie, when she clearly stated that she was not comfortable. Not guaranteed to ride everyday, since so many people were sharing a single horse. We weren't allowed to use the spacious indoor arena, even when the small outdoor arena was basically just one large puddle. Close to no staff. Many families sued or left. Unless your daughter is responsible enough to 100% take care of herself in terrible conditions, don't come here

According to the NY State Health Dept and the Code Enforcement Officer of the Town of Harrietstown, NY, this camp is not legally operating. I submitted a FOIA request and received more than 100 pages of documentation outlining health and violations that this camp has been cited for. When I spoke to the regional director of the NYSHD, she was surprised that the camp accepted my money and registration because the camp should not be legally operating. Contact these two offices (Code Enforcement Officer, Harrietstown, NY and Regional Office of the New York State Health Dept.) for additional information.

i echo the other negative comments about how this camp is run. also, be sure to check your credit card as they hit it with charges for activities that are supposed to be covered under the tuition charges. Of course, they refuse to return any calls asking about the charges. they've also added another unauthorized charge a month after she was at camp. it is a beautiful setting but very poorly run...BUYER BEWARE!

I used to be a camper at ADK Wildhorse, I went 3 years in a row and I wish I could go back (I'm 19 now) ….. My experience was amazing and it influenced me in such a positive way. It’s not a traditional camp but there was a lot of individual attention. I actually learned so much about responsibility. I loved taking care of an old horse named Logan. He and I really bonded. I also really liked the big focus on learning how to ride, not just sitting on a dull school horses. The girls had a lot of say when it came to activities for the day, which was really nice. I recommend the camp for any girl who loves horses and wants to learn more.

ADK Wild Horse Camp
I love camp! Everyone here is so positive and I feel like it's my second home! Every time I walk through the entrance I know I am going to have the summer of my life! All the horses are so sweet but no horse is better than my best friend Tex!! I love jumping him at camp! the outdoor area has such a beautiful view of the mountain's. The food is always great. Whenever I would have my meals I was always so excited to see what I was going to have. The food is so GOOD!!! It's funny how every year I always ending up calling my parents asking to stay another week! Get ready because once you leave you end up crying!! Never want to leave! I love camp and there is no Fun, energetic, perfect for equestrians, amazing, want to go back every year, camp like ADK Wild Horse Camp!

I agree with the other parents writing in. My daughter attended for 2 weeks last summer for her first sleep away experience. I was totally misled by the nice website but when we made the 6 hour drive to the camp were very disappointed. The owner, Natalia, barely came out to greet us or my daughter who I would be leaving with her. She barely spoke to us and just sent my daughter to a unpack. No introductions to the other girls etc.. The girls pretty much took care of themselves with very little supervision. !6/17 year old were driving them in vans into town and just hanging out. No planned real activities and ridging was totally unsupervised. A 12 year old was directing my 15 year old daughter. When we went to get here at end Natalia was no where to be found. We had to knock on the door to her house and she was in her pajamas. Not with the girls or greeting parents. We were appalled and couldn't get pout of there fast enough. Please don't make the mistake we did.

This camp is so poorly run. The horses get poor training. My horse ran of with me on him and he would not listen to me to tell him to stop and I am an advanced enough to control a horse enough to do it on a trained horse.Won't accommodate any special needs like being VEGAN or needing MEDICATION. Don't go to adk wildhorse camp it is a waste of time and money. All to positive reviews are from people who the camp director liked for everyone else or people who required more she treated them like trash. My friend broke her arm and they did nothing. The camp director abused me emotionally and made me not want to ride anymore and because she did not give me the food I needed I became physically sick because of her my parents are thinking about suing her. Don't go to this camp.

WORST CAMP EVER. I had a bad feeling but didn't listen to my gut. There is almost no adult supervision. One of the kids was 10 years old and the kids were brought to a rated R movie with explicit sexual content (sausage party). My daughter knew more about riding than the counselor did who had only been riding a short time.My daughter was on medication and it wasn't given to her regularly. In fact, her doctor said I should sue due to the severe risk she was put in for not getting her meds. I was lied to several times by the owner. She said my daughter didn't want to call me on call day. When I insisted, my daughter said they wouldn't let her call. She jbegged to call home. They charged my credit card 2 times for random charges. I won the disput because it was fraud. I picked her up early because she hated it. There was no one there when I picked her up so I took her. So much for signing her out and they never called to see if I had her. RESEARCH THIS PLACE.IT ISN'T WAS THERE WEBSITE SA

This camp is just awesome!!! I love it soooooo much! This is my second year coming to this camp. I stayed 2 weeks the first year, but I couldn't get enough of this camp! So the next year I stayed the whole summer!! You make so many life long friends and learn so much. I came to camp just walking, beginning trotting and was a nervous rider, but two summers latter I'm now jumping 4' 6" almost 5' and a very confident rider. They teach so much here and show you how to be the best rider you can be. There are a variety of horses that at least one, you will be attached too! Besides the horses, the outside activities are sooo much fun! From white water rafting, to simply going out for ice cream, I have endless fun. I can't wait to come back to camp! -Alex Pavlov ()

First off I would like to say I can't understand some of the clearly hateful reviews being posted here that have nothing to do with the summer camp. My daughter had a truly amazing experience. I found the camp atmosphere very refreshing and the staff made me very comfortable leaving my daughter there for 3 weeks. All the horses looked fantastic and according to my daughter they were amazing to ride.

The owner is a terrible person that can't control her horses. My wife had her horse go crazy during our trail ride spinning in circles and going backwards until it fell on top of my wife. I received no help from Natalia in getting her to the hospital as she was more concerned with getting her horses ready for the next ride. They play the sympathy card with the "rescue animal" story but the truth is that this is only about money. Look into all of the bad experiences people have here. This is not an isolated case. They are also under investigation by the Better Business Bureau and filed for bankruptcy in the past. Keep your kids safe and stay away.

Rude owner, berserk Horses, sent our family member to hospital with critical injuries. Worse thing Natlaie never offered any help to our family and never gave us a refund. She also drugs her horses to control them. Worst event in our 2 family history, don't trust this place with your family. EVER!!!

I am so glad my daughter Sara had the chance to attend. The camp provides an experience the larger camps simply can’t offer. I was very impressed with how the camp promoted a stress free caring attitude among the girls. One could tell the camp really took great care of their horses and it rubbed off on Kerry. Her limited riding experience and “horse” knowledge really expanded in the three weeks she was there. She learned a lot about responsibility and we are now considering getter Sarah her own horse.

My 13 year old daughter who is totally horse crazy had an awesome time. The camp is small so she really got allot of one on one time with the horses. She really had a blast on activities and I know we will be signing her up for summer 2017. I only wish I could have gone when I was her age.

This is the worst camp I have ever been to. The staff made me feel unsafe at camp. The camp director Natalia is the worst I am vegan and she did not believe me and said it is all in my head which it is not. I put on my forms that I was vegan and she didn't eaven bother to look at them. When I told her I was vegan she lashed out on me and asked why we didn't call to tell her I'm sorry but there is nothing on the website that says you have to call. There is a "fee" for being vegan. She had this attitude with me and my friend. There website is misleading. Natalia is an awful person. The staff bad the food bad this camp is the worst never Come here ever.

I have been going to this camp since I was 13. I'm almost 17 now. This camp is not for girls who do not know how to ride or tack up their horses. We are introduced to each and every horse, and we ride a few during the first few days to see which horse works best for each of us. Some of the horses challenge you. I love this camp. I have taken so many lessons there and did so much riding on so many different horses. I loved Oliver and Sampson the most. They are both OTTBs and fast when jumping.

The staff is not helpful my friend hurt her wrist and they only gave ice but only on Wednesday and when she came home it was broken .The cabins are nice but the stables Didn't sweet the stables did not have enough room and there's only a handful voice is that the instructor trusted not only handful of voice that is not that this doctor jus sweet the stables did not have enough room and there's only a handful of horses for campers to ride. I had to share one horse with three people and I didn't get any time to ride. We never got to meet the veterinarian . They didn't have any horse related activities except for the horse show. I am a vegitarian and the owner didn't trust that I was a vegitarian and forced me to eat the food provided and I got sick the next day and the owner thought it was just in my head. I would waste your money on this camp . Find another camp for your daughter to get involved with

This camp was definitely the worst camp I've ever been to. Not to mention that this camp violates a plethora of New York State summer camp requirements as well as the Public Health Law. The head lady is cruel and manipulative. Counselors don't care about your wellbeing (they're also mostly 17 years old and don't know how to run a summer camp). Numerous people have filed law suits against this camp for their gross misconduct and misleading advertisements. Furthermore, Natalia, the camp director, has changed the name of the camp several times to avoid association with the negative reviews. Simply read the comments people make about this camp and see for yourself. Please do yourself a favor and do not go here- you will save yourself a large sum of money and your child a traumatizing experience. ALSO this camp does not accommodate any diet restrictions, BUT they will fine you an extra $150 if you ask for it and promise you a wholesome diet from their private chef. These are all lies.

This camp was definitely the worst experience I've ever had in entire life. It left me traumatized, & unwilling to ever go to another camp again. This wasn't just a case of homesickness, but I experienced severe depression. The "staff" (which consisted of 3 people) was rude & uncaring. Their website is a complete scam. One girl started crying when we were out once.. all they did was give her a dirty look. I cried a lot, & I NEVER cry in front of others, and no one once asked me what was wrong. It was really hard for me to get a hold of my parents also. I had to beg the woman for a phone and she even forgot to give it to me. I eventually got hold of it & had my parents get me. The bathroom is a tiny, nasty toilet located inside of the barn. The showers are also in the barn, swarming with all types of bugs. No one supervised us when we did chores around the horses, which IS VERY DANGEROUS. One time, we had to go in and give a horse water. It freaked out & pushed the girl onto the ground.

Wildhorse is the ultimate setting for girls who love horses. It was the happiest 4 weeks of my daughter's year. The people and camp life is outstanding. They took great care of my daughter and she learned a lot about a working horse ranch - not to mention that she learned how to use a whitewater kayak for the first time at this camp.

Before you even consider signing up for camp, please do yourself a favor and research this camp thoroughly. It has been named and renamed due to its mismanagement - ADK Wildhorse, Girls HorseCamp, Adirondack Equine Center. My child registered for day summer camp. There were about 10 students. They have one indoor ring. The children sit around pretty much the entire day waiting for their one or two turns on a horse. (Each time it is about 10 -15 min. So, for a 30 minute ride, this camp is quite expensive.) They had 2 counselors who quit after the first week and was replaced by a 16 y.o. counselor. I asked her about this and she said that she had experience. I'm sorry. There is a difference between knowing how to ride a horse and teaching another child how to ride a horse. Since Natalia runs the whole place, she wears all the different hats. Unfortunately, that does not leave any time to be a counselor to the kids. If you're dissatisfied, FORGET THE REFUND. YOU WON'T SEE IT.

Natalia, Madison has really shared some amazing stories. She genuinely felt at home at your beautiful horse sanctuary. I am extremely grateful for your commitment and love for the work you do. In spite of it being a 7 hour journey I hope we can continue being a congruent part of such an amazing establishment. I genuinely feel you and your husband change the lives of young equestrian novelists. I thank you and feel joyful for your commitment. Ttys!

I just picked up my daughter from camp a week ago. SHE LOVED IT ! Asked if she could stay longer but unfortunately we had other plans and could not make it happen. We have our eyes on next year. The staff was outstanding, I can't say enough good things about the place. It is a small, privately run camp that gives much attention to every child's needs. My daughter's horse was named Josie and she jumped her for an entire week. It did rain so the outdoor riding arena was not used, but they all had fun in the indoor space they have. I spoke with a few girls over the phone as Fridays are call days. I think we found our new favorite.

Traditional camp where girls sleep in bunk cabins, are around horses, days are long, nights are short, weather is cool, beautiful place. When I saw the view it was jaw-dropping, the property is big and the girls get lots of exercise and WALK EVERYWHERE. Danni, Meghan and Chelsea were like big sisters to my daughter and her cabin mates. Home made crepes for breakfast, I mean look at their menu - the cook knew what kids like. Food was served regularly throughout the day as my kid has hypoglycemia and needs healthy snacks. Camp girls were friendly, no bickering or spats to write home about. There is something to do of EVERY HOUR of the day so the kids don't get bored. Two sisters from my daughter's cabin left as they were homesick and afraid of a mouse in cabin. Overall, it's not a prissy camp as others are. It's all about kindness to the horse and education.

I sent $500 to the camp director for personal transport to and from the airport for my daughter. She arrived at 11am at the airport, and nobody picked her up. Her cell phone did not have coverage in ny as we're from another state. The Delta airlines child monitor thought she was set with a ride and left her alone. She sat by herself at the airport for 6 hours until she gathered the courage to ask a maintenance worker for help. By that time there was no flights back home until the day after next due to overbooking . She was taken into care by NY child services and placed with a foster home until a flight home could be arranged. She's home safe now, but with a horror story of spending 3 nights in an overcrowded, roach infested rowhome that housed 6 other foster children, where she was fed Mac & cheese every night and was severely beaten by the other children since she is white, and they were not. She lost a tooth to the fight and is now in counselling. Hello lawsuit.

I was looking for a youth summer camp to put my daughter in that would not only be active but educational on her part. After quite a bit of research we decided to put her into Girls Horse Camp. Let's just say she had the best time of her life. Since she has been home she has been non stop talking about her positive experience at the camp. She's always begged me to get her a horse and now that she spent a bit with them she is really wanting one. I am so glad I let her participate in a camp that operates in an easy going atmosphere with animals that are not a potential danger as that was my biggest fear. She not only gained a bunch of experience from this summer activity but she also gained friendships and responsibility. Overall, I can tell that my daughter had a positive experience and I cannot wait to enroll her again next year with her new friends she made. I couldn't be happier with the experience she had and look forward to participating in the near future

This camp does not deliver what it promises. They are disorganized and have mistakes and typos on all their forms. After paying $300 for transportation to/from the airport there was no one to meet my daughter when she arrived. She sat in the airport alone for over an hour waiting. The brochure says 2 riding periods per day plus another horse related period- that did not happen. The brochure says they do exciting events outside of the camp like white water rafting and "walk with a wolf"- that did not happen either. The brochure mentions vaulting (gymnastics on horseback)- that did not happen. My daughter felt that the camp director did not like her and treated her meanly- she also heard her gossiping about "difficult" campers and their "difficult" parents. Very unprofessional. The counselors also gave my daughter cough medicine without my permission and without any attempt to contact me to get permission. The food was good and the beds comfortable- nothing else was as promised.
