Ignore all these “rambling” negative reviews. XMC has taken our shy little girl and turned her into a proud, disciplined, strong female.
Yes, they are tough and impatient
Yes, they don’t deal well with ****
Yes, they have zero tolerance for misconduct
Yes, sometimes they get even under my skin by being short and blunt ;)
But guess what? It made my daughter a better person; it made me even a better parent.
She has been multiple times, and each time, she returns holding her head higher, more confident, and more prepared for reality. Which is
Tough, annoying, and intolerant.. but now she is ready for it.
If you are raising an entitled snowflake, we don’t want them there. My daughter has seen a few, and they get sent home quickly.. and now the parent's word vomit on reviews. I am glad they sent them home to create a better experience for my daughter.
But if you want your child to come home with more strength, pride, respect, and a stronger mind. Send them here.

Please read the reviews off of Yelp too. I was unable to copy and paste my review off of Yelp to this site because it was long and detailed. Think twice before sending your child to this camp.

My son had a great experience here. It was not easy, and that was the point. This is a real deal, life changing experience. Know that this is not a camp for "problem kids". It's a camp for kids who want to experience a taste of what boot camp may be like. That includes sleep deprivation, hard physical activity and complete accountability. My son is going back for the Scuba sessions this summer. PS - My older child is a Cow at West Point, so I have some experience for comparison, and this would be a great prep/gut check if your child is thinking about applying to a service academy.

Very professional, very realistic, very safe, great fun for the kids who wanna be there. The leadership obviously cares a great deal about this experience, beyond the significant logistical and management aspects of running something like this. Good job. Congrats !

I truly enjoyed my one of a kind XMC experience, it was a fun and demanding. I am now in much better shape mentally and physically. I enjoyed the exercising, and the fact they did not allow excuses, and you had to be responsible for your actions. The mess hall served great fuel. Cadet AJ Brown

My son attended for the first time this summer, he did the CBT. He loved every, difficult challenging minute of camp. He has been home for almost a month now and still daily speaks highly of the cadre. He is already signed up to attend next summer. The change in him is surreal. The physical growth and increase in strength and endurance is impressive. But the maturity, self confidence, self discipline, and motivation is phenomenal. He now gets that “Nothing is given it is earned”. XMC has also given him an opportunity to meet youth from not only across the United States, but all over the world. He has made several close friends, that most likely will be friends for life. We asked him before we signed him up why he wanted to go his reply was along the lines of ‘I believe they can make me a better and stronger person’. I truly believe that they showed him that he is braver, stronger, and able to accomplish more than he ever thought was possible. He is already looking forward to next sum

This is a very intense camp - our 13 year old son attended the 5 week challenge and we were worried if he would be too young for it but he has made it through all 5 weeks. It is very rigorous physically and mentally and although he battled with some homesickness the cadre must have helped him stick with it. This is not for the faint of heart - and it is a challenging experience for any teen (and parent!) who is willing to be pushed outside their comfort zone.

My son found XMC last year when he was 12. He waited for a year to be old enough to go. He couldnt wait! This was his first year and I cant say enough great things about the camp. He has been military minded since he was a toddler, and wanted to challenge himself with this camp to "see what he was made of." The staff at XMC are passionate about these kids and the program and it shows.
I am sure this is the first of many years for our son. This camp WILL challenge your child, it is not easy...it is realistic, but they will come out the other side with self pride and accomplishment, leadership skills, and the knowledge that they CAN tackle anything they set their minds to.

It was my son's first time this year and he returns home in a few days. I found the registration process to be very organized with collecting medical information and permissions from parents. The description of the camp online is exactly what it is: an extreme military-based style camp where teens get the real experience of what its really like, including the expectations of good behavior, giving 120%, personal growth, and respect for adults and those around them. Is it hard? Yes. Does it challenge them? Absolutely. If it didn't, what would be the point? It's not disciplinary. Your child must want to go to challenge themselves. However, at least for my son, the challenge is being met & he's growing throughout the experience. We will definitely be signing him up for next year.

My son is interested in going into the military. I wanted him to be educated in his decision and know the military wasn’t like the video games. I thought after he attended bootcamp, we would be done. Well he loved it! He is about to graduate from his 4th course at XMC. He has met amazing and inspiring cadre/instructors and made friends from around the country and world that share his interest in the military. I’m impressed by the new facility improvements/expansion and additional courses offered over the 3 years we’ve been involved with XMC. The courses are well thought out and excuted. My son has learned so much and gained a lot of self confidence. I too have gained confidence and understanding of my son’s decision to serve in the military. He is already talking about when he can return to help and contribute to the XMC mission.

Fantastic camp! For kids that are exploring the option of joining the military, it’s a great way to expose them to what life may be like and some of the opportunities they may have. From cadet basic training, to field leadership, cadet rangers, field medic, and more, this camp genuinely is the GO TO for those with that military drive.

As a career military man, I have seen training the world over from youth to young men and women. The training afforded to the cadets at Xtreme Military Challenge not only builds confidence it builds maturity and a sense of worth. Whether these young people will enter the military or business they will have the tools to succeed thanks to the dedication of the staff and the leadership of Col. Land. This program is world renowned and will be a place where legends are made.

My daughter found this camp and wanted to go as she is interested in going into the military. She’s 14. It was was an awesome experience for her. She struggled for the first few days emotionally but the staff and her platoon encouraged and supported her and she not only completed the three weeks, she excelled! Don’t send your child here to be disciplined - they need to WANT to be here or they won’t succeed. It’s for kids who have a strong interest in the military and a desire to experience it. Not being able to contact mom was great for my daughter - she pushed through those emotions and proved to both of us that she can be independent. It is physically hard as well, just like real Boot Camp. There was no bullying or hazing. My daughter was finally surrounded by like-minded girls who desired more than Snap Chat and what they looked like in selfies. After being home for 3 days, she signed up for 5 weeks next summer!

For the few that bash on col Land, get over yourselves. Returning our son to camp after a few hours of furlough, Land yelled at parents to "get in their cars and leave, now". I can see where people think it's rude but i signed my mid up for the real military experience. This isn't a soccer game people. Personally, I laughed because these kids are now his responsibility. My son is someone that gets picked on a lot. He's really shy and has really been worried about a sick mom. Like to the point of sadness and lack of wanting to do anything. He usually doesn't let things get to him. After the first two weeks of him being there, there was pride in his voice. He loves it there. Says th he food is great as well. He is now finishing up another 2 weeks of field leadership training. I'm looking to see him with even more positive changes. Oh, my child doesn't hug but hugged me at graduation. This camp is worth every penny to us because he has finally found something he feels good about.??

My son has been in this camp for 2 consecutive years, 1-physical Challenger, 2-leadership, 3-cadet, 4-winter survival, and now in 5-rangers. It has been a real challenge for him and for the family, it is hard yes it is hard, they shout at them yes they do, do they make them exercises and not to much sleep it is true, boys fight in the barracks without instructors know well probably yes, they are boys, and for doing so they get smoked (pay the consequences of their actions), I think this is not a camp to have fun, rather it is to help them to be better prepare both physically and mentally to comply with the responsibilities that the future will presents to them.
I do know they come back tired, but more mature, responsive and proud of themselves.
If you are looking for a camp for your children only have fun this is not the one , but if you want your children to grow to their best potential as men and women this maybe a good place to start.
Is up to you!

Got there 2 days early from san Diego ca to tour the camp and meet staff. The owner took one look at us and was rude, condescending, disrespectful and dismissive. I believe he was racsist, refering to us as you people, and the way he talked down to another adult/peer. I did not leave my son there. I called about a refund and more rudeness, so i said i rather have a live son that 5k, keep it. I would not recommend leaving your children at this facility especially if you are a minority

My son will be attending his 4th year at XMC this summer. This camp is truly life changing. It has taught my son the meaning of discipline, pushing oneself to the limit, respect, honor, and caring for your battle buddies. As a result he has excelled in school and in other activities as well. Over the years some parents have clearly underestimated how difficult this camp is. This camp by design is very tough. That's why the call it Extreme Military Challenge. If you or your kid cannot handle them being yelled at or living in a tough military-like environment then its not the camp for you. If your kid really wants to attend and has the drive they will be better for it. If they make cadet they will feel a great sense of achievement. If they go that far then there are even more challenging courses to push them even further. Sending my son was one of the best decisions I have ever made as a father.

XMC is a unique one of a kind realistic military experience. You will not find a more realistic experience, short of enlisting. As such, expectations are set high, and most Recruits rise to meet the challenge. During the two week Cadet Basic Training, your child will learn the basics of military life- including self-discipline, self-confidence and learning to become an integral part of a working team. The transformation from Recruit to Cadet is NOT an easy task, evidenced by the videos and pictures on the website, but so worth the results! Once Basic is completed, a host of programs are available. Field Leader, Ranger, Aviation and SCUBA are a few of the additonal courses offered with qualified instructors. From the COL to Cadre to Cadet volunteers, there is excellence, experience and quality in every course offered!

I am an ex-US Army soldier who challenged my son to XMC. I never expected to discover on family and friends night their horrific stories of bullying by punching, flickerin on their faces, starving, and constant mental harassment. Stories of instructors intentionally hurting a girl by the neck, hazing and threatening physical harm to our kids. This is not the Army way. I learned a kid tried to kill himself by drinking chlorine, and another punched the floor and broke his fist because he could not stand being in the camp. If you want to torture your child, EXTREME MILITARY CHALLENGE CAMP is right for you. If you want to corroborate my story fee free to send me an email at jcbigas@yahoo.com. I have the testimony of my son, the company and platoon honor award recipient cadet, and other cadets to corroborate my story. This camp is in the borderline criminal activity against minors. Not even under Alabama Law these acts are permissible.

XMC is a realistic style military experience. It is hardcore. No electronics. No swimming and craft time. No soda and sweets. This is a beneficial camp for a teen considering an armed forces career. It is physically and emotionally challenging. This should be considered more of an educational and experiential camp. There are drill sergeants that are the real deal. While it is advertised ages 13-18, that 13 year old should be VERY mature. Personal attention is not on a one-to-one basis. Challengers work as a platoon. When one messes up they all pay the price as a team. There is opportunity to return and progress through programs that build skills, so it is a different camp experience each time the teen returns(3rd return!). This is a camp for a teen that wants the military experience and to meet other like-minded youth. If your teen is not on board with working hard, sweating, and being challenged to work harder and sweat more while his/her friends are home playing, look somewhere else.

Amazing place. Granddaughter thinking maybe she wants a military career after high school. Wanted to test her self and see if she is up to it. This is the place!!! Kids who want to be there. Not for disciplinary problem kids. Tough regimen. I'm not military but it sure feels realistic. And after two weeks when I went to pick her up she asked to stay another two weeks for an advanced course. Check out the website/Facebook to see glimpses of what they do. Impressive.

XMC is by far the most realistic military boot camp there is. If your teen is at all interested in the military or thinks he/she is, this is the place to go for a true test. Our son has always been interested in the military and we sent him to 'another' military style camp last year (he was too young for XMC). He said he never wanted to go back since most of the kids just didn't want to be there and just got into trouble. XMC is quite different and won't stand for troubled kids...they get straightened out or sent home. The kids here, want to be here and seek out a challenge. The drill instructors at XMC are hardcore and the experience with the entire cadre is evident. We have been impressed from day one and can't thank the cadre and COL Land enough for being such professionals, yet understanding these are kids. This camp is simply head and shoulders above all else. There is a reality behind 'Hardcore or out the door'! This camp teaches kids how to give more than they think they can!

My son earned cadet at this camp. He wanted to go. His choice. He got a lot of satisfaction from graduating. Our honest assessment and things the Parent Guide doesn't tell you. This is an extremely difficult camp both physically and mentally. Be prepared to be yelled at and receive physical punishments (pushups and other). As far as the staff, my son thought highly of his drill instructor, an ex Marine. Mr. Land, the owner, was sometimes rude and short with parents. His customer relations skills could use some upgrade. The facilities are not great. The barracks bathrooms are insufficient and dirty. Four showers/toilets for 25 recruits. Food portions are too small. You must sit and eat quickly. No looking around or you will be excused without eating. You get little sleep because of nightwatch and interruptions. They have repelling, obstacle course and other events as advertised. Just be aware its not near as rosy as the literature suggests. I wouldn't send a 13-14 yo.

My 15 y/o daughter joined JROTC this year & made the Raiders team. However, she had some difficult times physically & mentally, so she wanted to find a boot camp this summer to help her qualify for Varsity JROTC/Raiders this coming school year!
As I researched the internet, I found many "disciplinary" boot camps for parents to send their "troubled teens" to, but only 2 co-ed in the U.S. for "good teens" that WANT to go! These are the teens that want to better themselves, have interest in the military, want find out who they are, or what they are capable of!
After further research, and many phone calls, Extreme Military Challenge! was the ONLY most realistic military boot camp around!!
My daughter unfortunately had a few issues before boot camp started and I was worried about sending her. Her feet were not fully healed from foot immersion (trench foot from a prior JCLC camp experiernce), plus she also came down with a bad sinus infection just a few days prior to camp and had to st

My son has been all about military since he was a toddler. I stumbled across this camp looking for a way to get my son into something to prepare and help him decide for sure that military is what he wants. His school does not offer ROTC, so I finding this was amazing. My son has went through cadet basic training, cadet field leader couse his first year. The second year fitness week ojt, cadet scuba, and cadet ranger phase 1. This year he has completed cadet combat engineer and currently in the middle of cadet ranger phasew. I am amazed at the experience and knowledge he is gaining from his experience at XMC. XMC is the greatest opportunity, experience, and learning camp. I cannot ever express what this camp has meant to my son and me. Most grateful for the dedicated staff and Cadre at XMC!

The above questions about the quality of staff, facilities, activities, personal attention, and monetary value provide me the opportunity to rate them all as 5. Joe Land hosted my nonprofit's one day fundraising event last year at Camp Liberty and I was pleased with all those things. Plus, Joe was generous and helpful in the planning of this event, going out of his way to provide resources and connect me with others who could, something which saved me time and money...and frustration! Take a look at this camp and what is offered. You'll be glad you did.

This Camp is the most realistic Military based training for young adults. The Staff gives 150% as they prepare for each summer year round constantly making improvements. The Extreme Military Challenge Staff is some of the most professional men and woman I have met. I would recommend this Extreme Challenge to any young adult who truly wants a challenge and EARN some self confidence. Parents you will definitely see a positive difference in your young adult when they complete this. Parents the staff are very qualified to work with youth and know what they are doing. Let your young adult go and complete this watch the posts as they progress, but there is no need to be worried or to blow up a keyboard or phones.

COL Land with his Cadre, Instructors, and Support staff provide the most realistic and safe military experience type camps/training for young adults. I met COL Land roughly 10 years ago, earned the title cadet, and currently serve in the US Army as an active duty aviation officer (Blackhawk Pilot). In just 2 weeks your boy or girl will enter as a lost recruit and come back to you a morally grounded, upstanding, young man or woman. The decades of military and professional experience in this staff is greater than what some real military training has. They know the right way, the safe way, and the only way to train these young men and women. I continue to volunteer for Extreme Military Challenge, actively communicate with COL Land, and attend graduations. COL Land and this program will always be something close to me.

As an educator for over twenty years, I can honestly say The Extreme Military Challenge! is BY FAR the BEST experience for your daughter or son to have the most realistic exposure to the military life for both your child AND you. This experience is legit. This is no fluffy summer camp. It's not for delinquents. Both your child and you will grow in many, unimaginable ways. As a parent, you will learn to let go just a little. As a challenger, they will learn to honor the struggle, to rely on themselves and their battle buddies, and they will achieve things that they (and/or you) may not have imagined they could. That feeling of success will never leave them (or you). They will learn to push through life's challenges when they may otherwise have given up. COL. Land, CPT. Land, and Cadre are the BEST. They genuinely care for EACH and EVERY young person under their watch. Safety is the number one priority. This opportunity is not to be missed.

If you have a son or a daughter who wants to come here you should be very grateful. This camp is not for every kid. Your kid must be motivated, self motivated that is. So this camp is the real deal. I've heard ex military sound off on how 'life like' this camp is. And you know what we LOVE it. Me, my son, and all the siblings and grandparents have absolutely loved the results. The staff are upfront and respectful. They really know what they are doing. I would recommend this to anyone with a motivated kid male or femaie.

Even for parents, it isn't for everyone...but if you set aside your control, your preconceptions, your fear of the unknown, this camp...this place, will change your child and you as a parent for the better. From the long days of PT to the long marches in the dark, your child will learn, grow, and become more than you will ever imagine. And after all the tears, pain and frustration are gone, your child will beg to come back for more. Allow your child to grow, allow them to be challenged, allow them to SUCCEED. You will be amazed. Better citizens, better people, self reliant and ready to take on any challenge, allowing them the ability to make themselves happy and not expecting others to do it for them; what more do you wish for your child?

This camp is amazing. As a retired vet I was very impressed with the realistic feel of this camp. They truly recreated the basic training experience for my now Cadet. The facilities are beautiful. I assure you that your child will come out a better person after attending this camp. If they are contemplating going into the military this is definitely a great first step. In addition they give them useful skills that can be helpful when they return home. They keep you updated and informed about everything the recruits /cadets are doing by posting pictures and videos. I would definitely recommend this camp to others. You are definitely getting what you paid for. I would send my daughter back again if she weren't going to graduate this year and enlist. Very good camp. No I'm sorry amazing camp.

Not the easiest summer camp (Ha!), not for everyone (too bad!) but a place where a kid can really test and learn their mettle, under superb leadership. It is sometimes grueling but an awesome experience. To put it in the words of my grandson, ""Well, when I was getting screamed at and they were right in my face making me do more and more push ups, I was like, 'Why did I sign up for this?' But then I got through it and felt really proud of myself. This camp pushes you physically but it's even more a mental challenge. I needed to overcome my mind telling me I couldn't do something and I did. I'm stronger than I even thought I was." And an added bonus? A kid whose idea of a meal is a tuna sub with roast beef and bacon, hold anything green or he won't eat it, is eating tomatoes and eating and enjoying salad! He may be experiencing inner victories but this is one victory for us!

AMAZING, is not enough to say about this program. I cannot express in words what this program has meant to my son. he is now an E3 in the Army Specials Forces Unit. He was prepared and ready for his journey in the military and life because of this program and their staff mentoring him. We are beyond blessed to have been part of this program. I highly recommend to any parent and youth. The Cadre is extremely passionate and skilled at what they do. I 100% trust any of them with my son's life and well-being

If your teen is considering the military life or is interested in challenging themselves both physically and mentally, this is the place for them! The staff will not baby them or you, but they will learn to be their best. It is meant to be tough and challenging. Your teen will do more before noon than most of us do in one day. They will work hard, they will find they're inner strength, and they will grow! My daughter is tough and difficult to figure out, but her drill instructor never gave up on her. She respects him and told me she is so happy he never gave up on her. She earned the title Cadet. This is not a camp where everyone is given a prize. Everything has to be earned, it is never given! Not interested in another summer of video games and boredom? Want to push yourself? Give XMC a look!

This has been one of the best life changing courses my son has ever gone through, he came into it lost, and not so motivated and came out a ranger and can't wait to come back. They take great care of the kids, and help them focus on their weakness and help build their self confidence. I would recommend this course to anyone. Thank you so much to the whole staff and everyone who devotes a month of their summer to help give these kids a life changing experience. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOU DO.

Our son attended EMC Camp Summer of 2014 for two sessions (Basic and Leadership). We had enrolled him in high school ROTC, September 2013, hoping it would help him with his self-esteem and timid nature - it did not.
I found EMC Camp during a search for summer camps, and wasn't sure if it would help, but he seemed very interested, so we enrolled him for the full two sessions.
We wrote letters to keep in touch, saw pictures on Facebook, but it wasn't until our first conversation, around Day 10, that what I was seeing in pictures was confirmed on the phone. I could immediately hear a change in his voice, and the excitement he had for his accomplishments was palpable.
Family night - a night I will NEVER forget. The cadets came marching around the corner, and I spotted him right away. Tears filled my eyes (as they are right now typing this) - seeing the pride he had in himself. Marching with his head held high - shoulders back - standing tall - a sight I will always remember.

I remember when i had the link sent to me about this camp, and the now cadet asked me for my honest opinion i told him this. Son if you want to join the military after high school i think this place will give you a taste of what you are in for. His father gave him 3 day's to decide and on day 3 his dad signed him up. I have had the pleasure of watching this cadet over come obstacles since he has been there at the camp, I was truly impressed of his own personal accomplishments along with that of his platoon. My 8 year old son wants to go when he is of age, he saw what our cadet had accomplished and he was very proud of our cadet. He looked me and said mommy i want to do this and be just like him. This camp is truly AMAZING.
Watching the Drill Instructors with these young adults was truly amazing, definitley brought back memories lol. Everyone associated with this camp are amazing from Col. Land to CSM Rivera to Cpt. Land all of you, mega HOOAH

I believe that there is no short cut to get teens more mature, taking responsibility and self discipline. Attending XMC is the closest thing you can get. I highly recommend this camp! As matter of fact, it should be mandatory for every teen to attend XMC at least once before turning 18 years old. It may sound exaggerated, but you get what I mean!

My son is interested in serving in the military. We were looking for a realistic way for him to see what training and service life is like. We found it! XMC is the real deal! You will not find more professional, caring people anywhere! My son has attended 7 programs with them. He also spent his spring break "working" at the facility because he loves it there and the leaders. They have certainly help mold him into the young man he is! I can't thank them enough. The parents learn almost as much as the Recruits/Cadets. Let them work their magic! You will be VERY impressed and glad you did!

This camp has changed my sons life!It has also changed my family's life. Not only can this camp give practical core values to all youth, it can take a leader of peers, to a leader of leaders. While I have spent my entire life trying to motivate and educate my son on responsibilty and gratitude, it is XMC camp that has reprogrammed my son and pushed him to an elte level of character, self belief, and a REAL drive to lead and succeed. Absolutely the best investment I have ever made!

I think XMC was awesome.. The values that the Cadets learned are and will be so valuable in their lives. Col Land and the staff are very knowledgeable. I think our Cadets learned some very important skills and lessons that they can carry with them into whatever and wherever their journey takes them..

As a first year Cadre member, outstanding camp. As a H.S JROTC 2010graduate Cadet Captain(Ranger as well), this tops all 4 years of camp training and experience. If I could go back in time, this camp would have been my choice. Outstanding Staff and Cadre

We were not wanting a camp for troubled teens-Our son thought he wanted a military career and our goal was to find something that would give him some exposure to this life. EMC did this very well!!! This is not for the child that is lazy and just wants to "go to camp". It is physically and mentally challenging. Well experienced staff push the kids harder than have ever been before. Overall, good experience and definitely money well spent for our son

Absolutely a quality program that is as close as you can get to an authentic military training program! The cadre are beyond professional and respectful. My son had a medical emergency and went to the ER, I was kept in the loop and he was treated with compassion and respect by the cadre. Once he was cleared to return to training it was back to business and he completed the training successfully! This is a challenging and rewarding environment for teens looking to experience what the military has to offer. For reference my son signed up for 3 courses totalling 5 weeks of training. I highly recommend XMC and my son will be returning next summer for more courses.

This camp may be good for the kids, but Mr. Land is completely unprofessional in dealing with parents. He refuses to receive legitimate feedback, and encourages inappropriate behavior from some parents on the group Facebook page. Not a fan at all. He is no leader I want any of my children looking up to.
