I have two teenage daughters and they have both attended the camps and weekend retreats. I have nothing but great things to say. Tim Jordan is wonderful and the staff is very caring. My girls have learned how to navigate through peer relationships, family relationships, and have been taught tools to advocate for themselves. I would have loved to have gone to a camp like this when I was a girl. They also do fun, outdoor activities and have traditional camp fun too! I highly recommend Camp Weloki!

The description on the website sounded promising. The few reviews on Facebook were all good. My daughters' experiences left me extremely concerned. My younger daughter got homesick the first night and then had to "share her feelings" with her entire group, embarrassing her even more. Tim Jordan's behavior made my older daughter very uncomfortable. The purification ritual is real and left both me and my girls concerned. If your kids want an all-girls experience, send them to Girl Scout camp instead.

When I went to pick my child up from Camp Weloki, her first words to me were, "Please don't ever send me back here." The staff singled out my high-functioning autistic daughter, made her explain to the entire camp why she did not want to participate in a messy activity, and told her that she could not have ice cream with everyone else if she did not participate (she found out later that there was no ice cream). She came home with a large splinter in her hand that the camp staff told her to ignore and let come out on its own. Also, they forced all the girls to participate in some sort of purification ritual, nearly burning my daughter with an incense stick. Camp facilities were decent (no A/C, but it's camp), but everything else was a big disappointment.

Camp Weloki is basically a cult, and my daughter had a terrible experience as a camper. The camp had all sorts of strange rules (campers were only allowed to shower during mealtimes, every girl HAD to have a hair wrap done by Tim, and every middle school camper was responsible for 1-2 elementary camper). Additionally, every camper participated in a ritual purification ceremony called "goddess night", so that the girls would be cleansed of all earthly impurities. As a concerned parent, my children will not be returning to camp Weloki.
