I worked here as a camp counselor and it's been an amazing experience. I've been able to see so many lives change for the better.

This camp is now in Pennsylvania in the Poconos. They also have shorter adventure camp trips out of Florida. I sent my son over the summer of 2022 and on one of the adventure trips in 2023. It's been a life-changing experience for my son. He was able to get off screens, make friends, and develop new interests that he still participates in weeks after the last experience. I only wish we would have found Summerland earlier. I appreciate the professionalism of the staff and the quality of the program. While my son was resistant to attend at first, be literally begged me to return for the adventure trip. I'm happy a resource like Summerland Camps exists for families like mine.

The first review here (5 stars) is interesting because it is posted BEFORE the firsts day of camp the FIRST YEAR it started. First off, the intent behind the camp is admirable. Our child bonded with a couple of counselors, the nurse, and some other campers but the field trips did not occur as advertised (the camper could choose two/week...), schedules weren’t followed, NO communication whatsoever from ANY staff members until we left multiple voicemails/texts/emails and there was an awful lot of downtime. Some kids had to be sent home for anger issues (confirmed via email) and our child experienced verbal bullying from other campers. We are grateful for the positive aspects of the camp: our child respects boundaries we set for screens—a great thing. We hoped, however, this would be an annual camp to reinforce skills, but we will be seeking other options unless it is very clear some aspects change.
