I was concerned that my son was experiencing racial discrimination or at the very least unconscious bias at his summer camp. I wrote a lengthy email to the directors of the program and this is the email I received. The passive aggressive response was “I’m sorry you feel this way” tells you everything you need to know about this organization. Most places would at least investigate the claims. I would not recommend Camp big fish for any child, especially one of color.

Camp Big Fish claims to be a Christian day camp, but the owners are far from running a Christian business. My kids enjoyed spending time with their friends and counselors, but I had to pull them out because of a conflict with the owners. My husband lost his job and we couldn’t afford to pay anymore (which is fine, I understand that I can’t send my kids for free), but after I pulled them, I got hounded for paying a cancelation fee. I explained my situation, but they showed no grace, like what they like to preach. One of the girls there babysits my kids, and she also isn’t happy with them because of how staff is treated. They’re told not to expect a break every day (illegal) and are often worked overtime without added pay because they’re contract workers (not illegal, but shady, especially when they’re only making minimum wage). They are snakes and I’m happy to get my kids away from them
