Camper quotes — first day of Session A, friendship, family feeling
"For anyone who is a first-timer at camp, Session A is really fun and gives you a great camp experience." — Caleb Harris, B21. "You make so many new friends at camp and have so much fun." — Evan Duffy, B19. "Camp is filled with so much love and fun." — Jackie Solarana, G18. "I love CBR because everyone's so nice, it's one huge family." — Ashley Kusens, G12. "It's so good to be back at camp for my 6th summer with friends you can only find at camp." — West Fisher, G18.
Community and belonging — camper letter about strangers becoming best friends in days
You go there and even if you don't know a single person, you immediately feel as if you're home — and that feeling only strengthens the more time you spend at camp. You are in a new environment and you learn new things — from your counselors and from your fellow campers. I've met so many new people in such a spectacular place; I've gone for five years and each year the experience has been different and better. You can arrive at camp with a lot of people who you already know and you all click right off the bat — great friends from the very beginning. Or you could arrive with absolutely no idea where you are or what you've gotten yourself into — for me, the adjustment has always been short and the community forms in just days.
Activity selection — elective program, every 3 days, 5 periods per day, 50+ activities
Each session consists of various field trips, special events, and over 50 camper selected summer camp activities. With proper guidance from our staff, every camper has the opportunity to enjoy an abundance of activities in the areas of aquatics, athletics, outdoor adventure and the arts. Every 3 days (5 periods per day) each camper selects his/her activities (each activity is 1 hour long). At the end of the 3 days, a camper may select new activities, or elect to continue with some.
Cabin life — air conditioned, solid oak bunks, individual cubbies, indoor bathrooms, 10–12 campers with 3–4 counselors
Cabins are air conditioned, concrete block constructed cabins with new solid oak bunk beds, individual cubbies and indoor shower and toilet facilities. We typically have 10–12 campers per cabin and 3–4 counselors.
Outdoor adventure — 50ft rock climbing wall, zip line over the waterfront lake, ropes course, outdoor skills
The brand new, 3 sided, 50ft rock climbing wall speaks for itself! There's nothing like the feeling of ringing the bell when you make it to the top! Take a ride down the zip line and wave down to your friends at the waterfront as you fly by! Challenge yourself at the low ropes course or learn valuable skills in outdoor skills class like building a fire, pitching a tent, navigating a hiking trail, and more!
Evening and special events — Color War, District Games, Mud Run, Carnival, Miss CBR pageant
Every evening is filled with laughter and cheer as our special events get underway. Night activities include Make Me Laugh, Human Hungry Hippo, Slip-n-Slide Kickball, Scavenger Hunt, Silent Disco, Capture the Flag, Kangaroo Court, Bunk Feud, Sing Down, Gold Rush, Spook Nite, Counselor Hunt, and Miss CBR. Special events include Color War, the District Games, our beloved Mud Run, Carnival Day, Battle of the Sexes, Warrior Dash, and Decathlon.
Camper growth — independence, confidence, bunkmate problem-solving, global community
During their time at camp, our kids learn to interact with campers and staff from around the globe, troubleshoot problems and differences with their bunkmates in a positive and cooperative manner, challenge themselves to try something new, show empathy and respect to fellow campers and manage their daily schedule independently. These kids become a part of a community larger than themselves and in just a few short weeks, become a part of a camp family that will forever change them for the better, no matter the age in which they begin their camp journey.
Lasting impact — camper letter on growth, independence, and lifelong memories
Although I am only 14 years old, I can honestly say that some of the experiences I've had at summer camp I will remember for the rest of my life. I simply never stop smiling when I'm there. Camp provides a safe and nurturing environment for campers to step out of their comfort zones, away from their cell phone screens, and into a world of acceptance, excitement, and a whole lot of love. Looking back, it may be one of the best things you did with your life as a child or teenager. Summer camp is an opportunity like no other.

First-timer experience — Big/Little program pairs new campers with experienced older campers
One of the most meaningful programs we have at camp is our Big/Little program. Here, we match new campers with our most experienced older campers who mentor the kids throughout their first summer. This allows our older campers to demonstrate leadership and compassion while helping our new campers get acclimated to camp via tours, special activities, and intentional time together. By doing this, we strengthen the fabric of our community at all levels and create meaningful experiences for our campers throughout their camp journey.
Food and dietary needs — chef Robson, allergy accommodations, salad bar, vegetarian and vegan options
Our chef, Robson, does a wonderful job preparing our meals and is an experienced caterer based in Florida during the off season. He can accommodate all food allergies and dietary restrictions, and will ensure that your child is well fed. In addition to our daily menu, we always have a side bar with fruits, yogurt and cereal for breakfast and a full salad bar option for lunch and dinner, vegetarian and vegan options.
