Canadensis Today Show — daily video window into camp life
A number of years ago, we were able to bring 'camp to life' and allow families a daily dose of all things Canadensis through the creation of the Canadensis Today Show. This online feature is a daily 10-15 minute report of all the activities going on at camp, including our Birthday Patrol, 'Camper on the Street' Reports and 'All Access' Features. With colorful hosts and plenty of camper interaction, viewers feel very connected to what's going on each day. Parents can even e-mail the show, letting us know what they want to see more of throughout the summer.
Camper quote — advice for first-timers on belonging
Just be nice to everyone and have fun! Be yourself and don't worry about fitting in, everyone will love you. It's way easier to be friends than spend the summer fighting.
Individual electives allow for campers to customize their schedule and receive more specialized instruction. Campers sign up for first week electives from home, where parents can help them make selections. When they arrive at camp, their personalized schedule will be hanging above their bed. Campers can keep the same electives for the entire summer or decide to change them on a weekly basis by visiting our Programming Department.
Outdoor adventure — 1,000 acres and private waterfall
With 1,000 acres and more than 13 miles of private trails, we have a lot to explore at camp, including a private waterfall and three campsites. All campers have a scheduled overnight during the summer and older campers go on various outdoor adventure trips around the Poconos.
One of the most SUPER SPECIAL events of camp is when COLOR WAR breaks! Color War is a five-day, high spirited, camper driven competition between Blue and Gold and involves all of camp's activities. The five days culminate with our annual Sing.
For more than 70 years, Canadensis has had the philosophy of visiting every new camper in their home, it really helps us maintain the close family we have at camp. With campers coming from PA, NJ, MD, NY and CT…there is a lot of ground to cover!
CIT program — leadership culminating in running Color War
Current 10th Graders – Counselors In Training (CIT Program): 2 periods spent each day working with a bunk in Lower Camp or Middle Camp. Many leadership opportunities, culminating in leading our 5 Day Color War program. A five day, four night trip with hotel stay in Disney World. Service Learning trip to Philadelphia and the Jewish Relief Agency.

Dining hall — nut-free policy and dietary accommodations
We do not serve nuts or food with nuts in it in our Dining Hall and we can accommodate most food allergies and food sensitivities, including Celiac Disease. Our Camp Mom works closely with our chef to assist our pickier eaters, or those with special dietary needs. All meals are served cafeteria style, with an extensive cereal bar at breakfast, and an extensive salad bar at lunch and dinner. In addition, pasta and soy-nut butter and jelly sandwiches are always available at lunch and dinner, as well as vegetarian alternatives.
Every night, the 'icing on the cake' to a great day at camp ends with an Evening Activity, which is a creative and entertaining activity. Mondays are SUPER DAYS — These days are all about camper choice! Thursdays are SPECIAL DAYS — The morning is a 'lazy wake-up,' which allows campers to sleep in a bit later. Morning activities on this day are usually one that includes an entire age group (called 'Friendship Activities' or 'Bro-tivities'). In the afternoon, it's an all camp activity such as Carnival Day, Revolutionary War Day (on the Fourth of July), or an all-camp game of Capture The Flag.
