Wow... now here's a person you must listen to. I have been going to this camp for 7 years... so I believe I have some seniority over all of you. Personally, I did not like this camp at all. The clique was: if you didn't have Wii, PS3, XBOX 360, and everything else, you didn't fit in with everyone else and was set as an outcast. The biggest problem is the concentration of JAPs the younger campers need a HUGE wake-up call (and I don't mean reveille) the world doesn't revolve around you and, yes the counselors can be a little young, but they are just exploring the world trying to have a good time! Don't take your child's unhappiness out on them! Actually listen to them, and maybe they will learn to be able to communicate better and not be such ****s... PEACE

I HAVE 4 CHILDREN. MY OLDEST SON WENT TO THIS CAMP FOR 5 YEARS. MY YOUNGEST CHILD IS THERE FOR HER FIRST SUMMER AND THIS IS MY 2ND SONS 7TH SUMMER. MY 3RD SON HAD SOME HOMESICKNESS LAST YEAR AND THE CAMP HANDLED IT VERY WELL. HE CALLED ME AS NEEDED AND WAS ATTENDED TO BY VERY CARING COUNSELORS AND DIVISION LEADER. HE WENT BACK THIS SUMMER SO HE OBVIOUSLY HAD A LOT OF FUN. THE OWNER IS ALSO A VERY NICE AND CARING GUY AND VERY AVAILABLE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAMP.

There really shouldn't be any bad comments about this camp. With five years of memories and experience, I would never trade the times I've spent with Chipinaw for anything. Every moment I wish I could be at camp. And when I am there, I could never be any happier. I count down the days until I'm back at my second home once again. If you're sending your child for the first time, they'll love it, it's filled with excitement every where you are. It's truly an experience of a lifetime. I will continue coming back for a long time and cannot wait for another summer with Camp Chipinaw and all of the friends I have there!

First of all I'd like to change the gender from "co-ed" to highly seperated. I love going to chipinaw more than anything truly, but co-ed is a lie. Even the foreign counselors who would like nothing more than to keep the girls away from the boys agree that seeing them is rare. The dining halls are seperate, the activities are seperate, the evening activities-although technically we're all in the playhouse together we are on opposite sides seperated by a walkway with counselors on the end scolding us for talking. Of course from that point on we are mixed during canteen and courts. Now, don't get me started on Cheryl, honestly. She truly makes girls camp a terrible place to be. Forget her though- the friendships you'll make at chipinaw are indispensible and the staff varies of course- but stop complaining just as anywhere not everyone is perfect... All you jappy parents- I'm sure your kids have some teachers at school they don't like... Probably some you don't like either...do you pull t

Dirty? This person must be dirty! Chipinaw has a full time staff that goes around to clean. They even have people come into my bunk every day and scrub the bathrooms!!!

Obviously this person has no idea what they are talking about. It is in all the written material that the canteen is only open in the evening most nights. Too bad after 5 summers they didin't learn anything.

In the 5 summers i've spent at camp chipinaw all i can say is that it is 10 months and $40,000+ thrown down the drain. The only thing that is good about the camp is the friends which completely brain washes you into thinking that the camp is actually good. If you are sending your child as a first time camper than please consider another camp, because even if you go on a tour and one of the owners shows you how great this camp is it's mostly all staged. Because they always told us as campers to always say hi and smile to the tours. Another example of this is shown at the canteen this summer when Michael told one of his tours that your child could come any time during the day and get any candy that he wanted. One kid heard this and came over to Michael and his tour in the canteen and said "Hey Michael can I have a twix?" Of course Michael had to give it to him in terms of protecting the camps reputation and his wallet gave it to him, but with an added bonus as the dirtiest look ever.

This was my child 2nd year and it was pure torture for her.The 3 new girls were very clicky, rude and mean to her to the point she cried herself to sleep every night and wanted to come home.We spoke to the group leader& Cheryl a number of times and was told they were dealing with the problem.I was calling the camp every week.At one point we decided to speak to Michael who in turn admitted knowing everything that was going on but in reality had no clue whatsoever. He hung up on us during the phone call. When we called back we got wonderful Cheryl(ha!ha!).They claim that my child had a smile on her face during the day and everything was fine.Little did they know or the counselors that they hire know what was going on behind closed doors when they got back to the bunk. The 3 girls commented on the clothing my child was wearing and never let her become friends with them.Because of this I will not recommend this place and my child is not returning.Think twice before sending your child there.

I have to give this camp a poor rating on the camp based solely on the owner. I think the owner sets the tone of the camp and if they don't make the kid feel nurtured and cared for and build self esteem than the camp has failed. I would not recommend this camp to anyone, there are many wonderful camps out there. This is not one of them.

I enjoy camp chipinaw very much. Although there are bunking issues, that is something we all can work past. I love the friends and memories I have made there, and I love the feeling of being apart of a camp that has such a great history. The only downside is that the food is bad; but that is what pasta and sandwiches are for. I love this camp!

I am going back for my 4th summer i made really great friends but the camp is too structured and the food is horrible....im not the best eater but every day i have a peanut butter sandwich and there are no options. All the people there are really nice and try to help you if you have a problem. I love it!

this camp has horrible facilites. people get so caught up and obsessed with Chipinaw that they think it is actually nice. the bunks are gross and you have to share a bathroom with another bunk. nothing is new and updated that it looks kinda run down. people need a wake up call and look at other camps and realize that their camp is ugly. People say its jappy but that might only be the people that go there. GO TO A CAMP WITH FACILITIES FROM THIS CENTURY

camp chipinaw is the best camp in the whole entire world. summer '08 will be my 5th summer attending cc, and i have absolutely nothing bad to say. although there are some negative remarks, they are not true. everyone has a different opinion and come on, not everything can be perfect about a camp. my friends and i have not had the best luck with counselors, but we still had each other. we didnt let something small like that ruin our summer. we still keep in touch during the winter and fall and spring and see each other quite a lot. "every camp has a legend passed on from year to year to which we pledge allegiance and cherish all thats dear but of all the other camps, the one that stand the test is the loyal red and grey camp the symbol of the best camp chipinaw sing out our praise. camp chipinaw sing of happy days. our camp forever; mother of men fight for her honor fight and victory again...da da da da da friends friends friends we will always be whether in fair or in dark sto

MOST AMAZING CAMP ON EARTH! seriously. i mean it. you could not find a better place to spend your summer. i spend two unforgettable summers there and am counting the days (124!) to my third. i have amazing friends there who i talk to whenever i possibly can. the counselors are great, especially sheryl. despite the bad comments about her, she is warm, kind, and will do anything for the campers. the group leaders are great. the lake is gorgeous, and there are tons of fun activities. i love this camp. you could not find a better place to spend your summers. i plan on going every year until i am really really old.

This camp has good facilities and activities, but I went last summer to the 3 week part across the lake and i was really homesick. They wouldn't let me call my mom and the staff was mean. My really good friend who i have known my whole life goes to the 8 week part and her mom works there and i needed to see the mom, but they wouldn't let me see or talk to her. This made it worse. If you don't get homesick than this is the camp for you, but if u don't than don't even consider it.

I can honestly say I can't think of any place I'd rather be. One of our cliches at camp is living ten months for two - cliche maybe but definitely true. Roll on next summer!

This camp has changed my life. When people insult this camp it insults me because it my true home, and I can't imagine life without it. I have made soooooo many friends and memeries that time can never erase. Camp chipinaw has made me into the person i am today. It brought out the best in me and showed me the great person i would be. My friends there have become my sisters, and whoever is writing thoise bad things obviously doesn't know the camp in they way they should. All my friends there would agree and say it is an A<AZING camp and I highly recomend it. I LOVE CAMPPP 12783 is my home!!!!<3333

My child has been attending chipinaw for a good number of years and plans on returning. Anytime I have had a problem it was always addressed by the director or head counselor. In terms of the couselors, it is like everything else in life you win some you loose some. They do the best job they can hiring counselors but you really only see how good they are when the kids show up. My chid has made lifelong friends there and I would highly recommend it.

As a parent of both Chipinaw camper and Silver Lake camper I can say it is an awesome place with options for the kid, like my son, who loves camp but only a few weeks, or the camper, like my daughter who cant get enuf and is already counting the days until summer '08. The staff at Silverlake, especially Robin Spencer, is caring, professional and 100% commited to the kids. After 4 years we are so glad we chose Chipinaw, it is well run, well staffed and while not perfect it is as close as you can get to perfection in an imperfect world! Chipinaw rox our sox! p.s. While a polished businessman/director/owner, Michael cares deeply for the kids happiness and safety, he should write the book on how to run a camp!

Love this camp- more importantly my 3 kids love this camp. They have always had great counselors and fabulous friendships were made. Camp is such a big part of their lives that I feel I am giving my kids the greatest gift ever by sending them! If it were all about the money Michael and Shari would be pocketing it instead of constantly renovating and redoing. This is the best value for the money and my kids love camp more than any of their friends that go to the fanciest camps!

camp is amazing i have been going here for 5 years and i enjoy every minute of it. i have made life long friends here. the owner is really nice and pays attention to what most of the campers need. even though there are some bad counslers camp is overal great. the evening activities are so much fun and the activities really get you going. for all those parents who commented on how bad our camp was becuase of there childrens stories then they don't understand. these paretns have only heard stories and have never gotten to experience it first hand. but it is your opinion if you want to criticize. i personally love the friends that i made here and the strong relationships i have made here forever.

As a parent I can say that I TOTALLY trust the environment that Michael and his staff have created here. There is no crap permitted, and if there is and they find out--people are gone. Campers AND staff. This is my son's 5th year. He and I couldn't be happier. Good, strong, male role models. LOVE, LOVE LOVE this camp. Wish I could go, too.

This is gonna be my fifth year at Chipinaw and I still love it. This is prob the best camp i've been too. The counselors are great and so are the activities and the atmosphere. Its sad though when they fire counselors. This camp has made a major impact on my life and I recommend it to everyone.

All you people making bad comments about certain indivuduals is wrong. Chipinaw is an institution & if you personally allow one person to ruin an experience that is ultimately run by hundreds then you are the loser. I attended 2 sleep a way camps when I was growing up. MY 2 kids attend Chipinaw and while it isnt perfect (what is?) they summer after summer have the best time and have a lifetime of memories and friends. I can't wait to here and see what MIchael and Shari have done this past winter to the camp. They ROck !!!

Chipianw is the best! Whoever is writing all these negative comments is just stupid. Chipinaw has an extremely high return rate. That is why they are filled every summer. Sheryl cares about every camper and staff member. She is a loving and kind person. My daughters have been at Chipianw for years and hope to be counselors there in the future.

Whomever said there is only one 'mike sherry... etc" is obviously not that sincere because it's SHARI not sherry. I just found that funny, okay. So as VRV 07 color war general, and having completed my 6th summer (and yes, i will be back for a 7th), i would like to put it out there that "home" is a place where you feel the most comfortable. Chipinaw is where i get that feeling, and where i have for so long. Each winter i'm longing for summer. Every winter night i need the warm sunlight. CHipinaw is what i consider my home. Not my house, or my life in Riverdale... I'm on a ten month "vacation" when i'm away from camp. Not a day goes by when i don't think about camp. This camp can truly make all the thoughts of disaster in one's life fade away. SUmmer days may go away, but summer dreams are always here to stay with Chipinaw in my life. The friends i have made have turned into sisters over the years. CHipinaw, I love you. (although it has become a bit materialistic because of the director)

I worked at Chipinaw for 6 years...then left to work at two other "big name" camps...worst mistake I ever made...Chipinaw is not just a camp it is a family...and I never saw kids as happy at any other camp as I did there...the counselors are fantastic...and the owners and directors go out of their way to make sure the campers are having a good time...If I have a son/daughter someday this is the only camp I would think of sending them to...There are only one Mike, Sherry, D.T. and Cheryl...and no other place in the world is like Chipinaw.

My 2 boys go to Chipinaw and this will be my older sons 3rd year & my little ones 2nd year. My kids love the camp. They lover everything about it. Isn't that what counts ? My boys are making friends and memories they will have forever. The owner spends a fortune every year to make the facilities better. The staff is amazing. They email me kids and stay in touch with them. From the office staff to the owner and interatcion i have had has been very professional. The facilities are good and get better every year. The new canteen and A&C buildings are a testimony to the owner spending oney on the camp. The activites are great, a very good mix of sports and non sporting events. personal attention is amazing I hear it and i have seen it. If you base the money value on my kids happiness then the camp is a value. my kids love camp and all about it. Chipinaw is in there hearts. lastly, owner is very professional & keeps our kids safe and i trust him and all his actions

A good camp, but facilties are mediocre. Showers have had problems and bunks need re-constructing. Counselors are pretty nice, except for the occasional lazy one. Very good selection of activities, but a few activities are not followed through. Campers get personal attention really only when it is really needed.

I went to Chipinaw for five years and loved it. I am now 13 and wanted to try something new, but now that I think about it I really want to go back. The staff is great and you learn lots of stuff from foriegn countries and cultures. I could not wait for the summer to start each year. I made lots of "camp friends" and I didn't now any one the first day, but I got to know the whole boy's camp. I LOVE CHIPINAW!!!

Our daughter attending camp Chipinaw for 5 years. Nice camp for the first 4 years. She started at Chipinaw when she was 8yrs old. She will not go back again. The reason for this is simple. The owners have become fixated with money. The bunks are over crowded and hot. Five years ago there were less kids and more emphasis on the children. Now it is clearly only about money. After paying tuition they charge you for everything. Our daughter needed an antacid one night and we were charged $15 and $3 for each phone call home. We can certainly afford this however it is annoying. Our daughter was the one who told us she felt like no one cared about her. After the end of this season, we decided to speak to the owner about an incident. This is after getting nowhere with the head counselor. It was not a big deal and an “I’m sorry this happened” would have been enough. The owner was defensive and smug. We decided to listen to our daughter. Well, not all good things last.

Owner is arrogant and doesn't really care about the kids' needs. Hard to get attention from staff. The kids are friendly if you come from their town; if not forget about it.

We send two boys to Chipinaw. One is returning for his 4th season and one is returning for a second summer. They love all the activities and the counselors are great.
