Camp cho yeh is one of my favorite places in the world!! I love it and look forward to going evry year. I am 14 and still love it. The activities are great and the christian environment is awesome. The councelors are great and fun and make you feel good about yourself, and are great listeners. It isnt clique- ish at all. All you have to do is be nice and you will make great friends. And you can really be yourself. I went for 2 weeks last summer and it was amazing. Our cabin got really close and we had so much fun. Camp Cho-Yeh is the bomb.com and I cant wait to go back next year!!!! :)
I loved this camp:) it taught me a lot about myself, and Christ. I had so much fun with the alpha/omega showdowns, cabin time, bible study, lake, and activities. I loved this camp so much that this year I am going with4 of my friends:) the counselers are younger, so it is easier to bond with them. I made lots of friends when I was there and I give this camp a 10/10. I can not wait for this year camp! yay! cho yeh rocks!
Summer 2008 was my 11th year at cho-yeh and i still love it. I was in CLT while i would recommend to anyone who is 16 years old! They have also started making the activates more "teen friendly" you now can go to Lake Livingston for the day and you get to water ski, wake bored etc. I love the way this camp makes me feel and how much closer I feel to god once i leave. I do not believe it is cliquish at all you just have to talk to the other campers and if you do you will make friends that will last a lifetime. Unfortunately it was my last year as a camper after doing clt thats it...camper wise the next summer you can apply to be work crew and then after that you can apply to be a consoler which is my goal. I love Cho-Yeh, I love the place and I love the people!
Camp Cho-Yeh is an awsome summer camp this will be my second year and I can't wait. The only problem is that you have to walk far to get places. Otherwise Cho-Yeh is great.
This is pretty much the best camp ever!!! I love it so much and everytime i go i learn so much about christ and always feel really loved and really close to god. I have never had more fun in my life than when i was at camp cho-yeh. The counslors are great and do a wonderful job of making you feel welcome and really care about you personaly and your walk with god. I LOVE THIS CAMP!!!
I'm a Mom who has sent 2 kids to this camp for the last 3 years. I think Cho-Yeh is a basic, no-frills camp with some Christian teaching thrown in. This is not a 5 star resort. It's facilities are OK - nothing fancy. But the kids sure love it! The boys (age 11) cabins can be "rustic" but so what. They are kids and this is camp - not home. The girls cabins (age 9) tend to be much better - cleaner and newer. It has been a good learning experience for my kids. I can see that for older kids it might not be as appealing. The "lake" (more like big pond) is very small. There could definitely never be motorized sports on it. The price point is excellent. I priced a lot of camps and this one wasn't the cheapest or most expensive. And if you live in Houston it could not be more convenient.
i went to choyeh for 2 years and i didnt like it, it was very clique-ish and everything was spread out so much you had to walk miles to get to some places. it is religious but i always felt that i had a camp high and a week after i left that i was back to where i was before
Good for younger kids, but once you hit thirteen or fourteen, the camp doesn't seem so great. The kids are a bunch of stuck-up rich snobs who go around making each other feel lower than they really are. Plus, they have completely seperated the boys and girls (Housing is a no-brainer, but several activities, meals, program, and other things are now same-gender), so you can't get some healthy interaction. Also, if you are looking for a camp that is the ultimate in Christian teachings and highs, Cho-Yeh is not a safe bet. Yes, we read from the bible and pray, but they don't make you think about yourself, so you leave while dancing around, thinking you are the perfect christian. As I said, it is an excellent camp for the younger set. I am now 15, and this was the first year I did not go in 8 years. The younger kids should fit in if they are upper middle class white kids who make friends easily. Otherwise, they cannot expect to make friends at this extremely clique-ish camp.
