About Camp Danbee

Daily schedule — structured day with five activity periods

Camp Danbee strives to provide a well-rounded daily schedule. Daily schedules include swim instruction, a lake activity, a land sport, a creative activity and one choice period. Campers going into 6th grade and above are able to choose their own schedules. This freedom gives Danbee girls independence to create a daily schedule based on their favorite activities. Schedules are changed several times throughout the summer. Girls have five activity periods each day. Each class period runs just under an hour and is filled with skills instruction, fun drills, and game situations.

Independence, growth & leadership

Philosophy — building resilience and tackling bullying

Helping our campers to become more resilient in dealing with life's challenges is threaded into all we do. We help them build social skills and personal grit as they learn to master all the teachable moments that arise in a group setting. Danbee campers learn Empathy in an intentional "other-centered" community that helps break the cycle of bullying. They Discover Independence, becoming more comfortable making decisions for themselves and understanding consequences.

Programs & camp life

Gymnastics center — facilities and instruction

Danbee's gymnastics center features a full-size (42′ x 42′) competition spring floor, five balance beams, a vaulting area, a tumble track, two uneven parallel bar practice areas, and a bab system. This is one of the premier gymnastics facilities in all of summer camping. The Danbee staff of experienced instructors meet children at their individual level of gymnastics ability, whether it is a camper's first cartwheel or 1,000th back hand spring. The lesson plans are based on United States Gymnastics Federation standards.

Nature and outdoor camping — 250-acre facility on Lake Ashmere

Our 250-acre facility offers campers a chance to hike, explore a stream, collect berries or simply slow down and admire the rustic and peaceful nature of Lake Ashmere. Sleeping by the lake in an authentic teepee, cooking dinner, singing songs and sharing stories around the campfire are highlights of the summer. Traditional camp values and experiences with nature combine to give Danbee girls an appreciation of the importance of conservancy, outdoor living and bonding friendships.
