Camp JORI offers a variety of healthy and tasty options at every meal. We are a nut free camp and accommodate all food allergies and restrictions. Our chef is always happy to meet with campers and staff to make sure they are comfortable with the options available. We maintain a Kosher kitchen operated by a professional chef. Lunch and dinner entrees include various chicken and beef dishes, and dairy meals like grilled cheese and pizza. We also have a salad bar twice daily. Special dietary needs or restrictions can be accommodated and should be communicated to the senior staff prior to camp.

First-timer camper story — nervous arrival, unforgettable summer
I had never been to summer camp before but I was excited to try it out. My parents had signed me up for a 4-week long sleepaway camp in southern Rhode Island called Camp JORI. When we arrived at camp, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the surroundings — nestled in the woods by a lake, with cabins, a dining hall, a campfire ring, and sports fields all around. I settled into my cabin and met my bunkmates. They were all from different parts of the US and even from other countries, and we quickly bonded over our shared excitement for camp. As the weeks came to an end, I felt a mix of sadness and gratitude. I couldn't wait to come back next year and do it all over again.
Readiness for camp — guidance for parents of first-timers
Each child is different when it comes to being "ready" for camp. Our youngest campers are entering second grade in the fall after their first summer at camp. If your child has a history of separation anxiety, it may be worth starting with a day camp experience or a shorter overnight camp before trying a longer overnight camp. Consider one of our mini sessions. The senior staff of Camp will be happy to speak with you about these and other issues to make the best decision for your child and you.
Camp JORI sits on over 75 acres of pristine woodland, on the largest lake in Rhode Island with an exceptional waterfront for boating and fishing. The site is surrounded by Nature Conservancy protected land. Our beautiful facility includes a large dining hall with a professional kosher kitchen, multi-purpose rec hall, modern theatre/auditorium/sanctuary, spacious cabins with showers and all single beds, a separate LIT village for older campers, two swimming pools with slides and a fountain, and 600 feet of waterfront on Worden's Pond.
If the walls of Camp JORI could talk, they would tell the story of four generations of campers coming into our door as wide-eyed youngsters, enjoying fun-filled summers. Many JORI campers continue to become counselors, and some now serve on our Board of Directors. Camp JORI fosters a feeling of family and long-standing memories of good times.
Parent testimonial — independence, individuality, shy to confident
"Camp JORI has been a place that lets my children embrace their independence and individuality. They started camp introverted and shy, and have evolved into silly, giggly campers that love the time they spend with their friends and bunkmates at camp. We all love Camp JORI!" — Anonymous, 6-year camp family
