Camp Kanakuk Kamps reviews

The worst summer camp I have ever been to! No contact with your parents except for letters, no air conditioning, and terrible food. Overall it is awful. They are way to pushy on religion, and they truly don't care about how you feel. I wish I woul have liked it as much as others, but I didn't! I strongly recomend not sending your children to Kanakuk Kamps.

Started Kanakuk with my daughter in 1985. Now have 2 granddaughters there--one, age 13, started at age 7. Kamp is the highlight of her life--the other one as well. Can't say enough good things about how the genuineness of the reality of our living, loving Jesus is communicated to these kids. LOVE IT!

I LOVE this camp and have gone to it for eight years in a rough and want to continue that tradition the staff are all amazing examples and influences of serving Christ at all times and putting God and others before yourself. When I am old enough I want to work at Kamp and be a counselor. Going to Kamp helps you in so many ways from life skills to building your walk with Christ! Choose Kanakuk Kamps!!!!

I was a nine year kamper at kanakuk, and I am now on staff. Kanakuk provides an incredible escape for kids to not only branch out and meet other students their age from all over the country, but to be who they want to be outside of their home town. Growing up, I never felt like I fit in with my family or friends at home. However, every summer I got the incredible opportunity to get away to kamp. The spiritual feeding that I did not get at home, I received at kamp. I don't know where I would be in my faith today if it hadn't been for the staff that poured into me all those years, and I can now honestly say that I am living a Romans 1:16 life. When I didn't feel accepted at home, I got to come to camp and be loved on by so many other people just like me. It is truly an incredible and priceless experience. Kids of all ages will love this kamp, and parents, you will see the ways it affects their lives. There is no comparison to Kanakuk.

I grew in my faith with Jesus Christ while developing as an athlete through K2 football. The leadership and counselors are amazing. The people you meet are from all over the country and have the most amazing testimonies. I love this kamp so much.

I went to K-Kountry and K-West for six summers total during my childhood in the late '90s and had so much fun. It was truly a growing experience for me each summer.

I am leaving for my fifth year in 5 days! Manakin I amazing. I am not particularly skilled in any athletic areas except for archery and dance, but the amazing Counselors there honed my limited basketball skills and helped me become a better forward. I love kneeboarding and tubing and love the treetops courses! I have grown so much closer to Christ and met my best friend here! This is a fantastic camp that presents a fantastic experience.

i love all of these kanakuk kamps, i have been to k-west k-klassic and k-kauai this experience for me was amazing, i really got to christ, all of the kamps that i have been to i have had a great experience!

I just got back from k-kouuntry. I've been there three years. The best camp ever. There is a zipline,blol,trapeez in the pool,slides,and much more. If you want a true camp experience then this is the camp for you. The staff, don't get me started with the staff thier awesome!! So come and have the time of your life at kanakuk kamps.

Growing up, I had friends that attended various Kamps. (K-1, K-2, K-7) and I'd always heard amazing things. I finally had the chance to attend K-3, or K-West, and I have to say, it was a great experience for me. In other ratings on this site, I've read that the staff is too pushy with religion. Though I can't vouch for every single member of the staff, I can say that while my counselors and other staff members, were outspoken Christians, I never experienced that same pushiness. There were some stances regarding different issues in popular culture that I thought were a bit extreme, but nothing I ever perceived as being pushy, much less indoctrinating. I also read on this site reports that if you aren't good at sports, you aren't "cool" at Kamp. Again, I have to disagree. I'm AWFUL at sports, and I always had a good experience. I was encouraged to participate and to push myself to whatever lengths I was comfortable with, but never was I made to feel that I was failing if I didn't try.

BEST CAMP IN THE HISTORY OF CAMPS! I've been going for three years, and I've never wanted to go home. Every summer I look forward to going back. You will have the best councelors and the best kitchies. Everything is so beautiful about this camp. On your schedule you get to pick your clinic (tennis, soccer,ect.) I never want to go to another camp in my life! They give you so much personal attention that you feel like your at home. You learn so much about God and christ and you have the best food ever!! I TOTALLY RECOMEND THIS CAMP TO EVERYOONE!!

I went to this camp a long time ago so take this for what it is worth. I hated it! They were pushy and treated you like you were an idiot if you didn't do all the activities and told me I would fail if I didn't do some hard things I was scared to do. It was awful and couldn't wait for my parents to pick me up!

Too pushy on religion, too scheduled and way too many ridiculous rules. Nice staff, however.

Kanukuk was a great camp. My favorite thing there was tubing. I can't wait to go back to a different camp next year!
