Clues to fit

Lasting impact — alumni network and lifelong friendships

Pontiac has been the foundation for so many friendships and relationships because campers that spend summers here spend a lifetime with their memories! Pontiac campers stay connected to Pontiac and to each other for years to come through social media channels, alumni events, and email newsletters. We take pride in our camper alumni who return to become counselors themselves, as their Camp Pontiac experience comes full circle.

Outdoor adventure — climbing walls, ropes courses, safety

Camp Pontiac's outdoor adventure program has three separate climbing walls, including a 25-foot-high three-sided climbing tower and a five-sided 45-foot-high wall with a challenging overhang. Climbing surfaces are changed out every week to make sure the experience is never the same. Campers are supervised by fully trained and certified instructors. We also have a mid and high ropes course — our newest ropes course contains 13 elements of varying difficulty and is updated annually to challenge campers year after year.

Setting — Berkshires location, two lakefronts, Water Park

Just two hours away from New York City and Boston, Camp Pontiac has the Berkshires as our backyard! Among the gorgeous scenic views are two distinct lakefronts that lend themselves to a wide variety of waterfront activities and water sports. The big draw to the water is our extensive Water Park. Run by licensed and certified water pilot instructors, Camp Pontiac also offers waterskiing, banana boating, and wakeboarding — with 35 American Red Cross certified lifeguards on the waterfront.

Programs & camp life

Big Sister / Big Brother programs — first-night bonding

On the girls' side, our campers are designated as little sisters through 6th grade with big sisters beginning 7th grade. Big sisters contact their littles to introduce themselves before camp. On the second night of camp, 'sisters' meet each other at the Girls' Side opening campfire and enjoy bonding activities together. There are many other big/little sister activities throughout the summer and big sisters frequently tuck in their little sisters at night. On Boys' Side, College Game Day bonds our boys by creating twelve 'college' teams with campers of all ages on each team playing one another in various activities each week.

Cabin accommodations — safety features and camper-to-staff ratio

Our camper living facilities are beautiful, air-conditioned, modern cabins. Campers are housed in bunks that have separate rooms for clothing storage. Approximately 12–16 campers live in each bunk through middle school. Our overall camper/staff ratio within the cabins is approximately 2:1 through middle school and approximately 3:1 in our older divisions. All of our bunks have air-conditioning, sprinkler systems, ARC fault breakers, private scald-proof showers, private toilet stalls, fire extinguishers, multiple smoke detectors, durable oak floors, and multiple exits.
