Request review removalMuch money and attention has been focused upon Jewish camps and community continuity. We had high hopes. Our daughter said it was "ok.". We had not prepared her well for the religious aspect of the camp because our junior congregation services are 1:15. And, after services we lead active secular lives. Shabbat was too long and was "torture" for her. This was the opposite of our intention. We wanted her ti get excited about Shabbat! The camp seemed too big for our daughter. And, we had to send her with an IPOD. This was a shame. She went to a lmore rustic secular all girls sports camp later and she fit in much better. The moral is that if you do not go to services regularly, start to participate BEFORE you throw you child into this camp. That being said, the facilities are nice and the parents we met were really great.

Request review removalI LOVE RAMAH POCONOS SOOOO MUCH!! THIS IS GOING TO BE MY 6TH SUMMER THERE AS A CAMPER AND I CANT WAIT! I LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT! RAMAH ISNT MY SECOND HOME, IT IS MY FIRST HOME! I ACTUALLY DREAM ABOUT MY UPCOMING SUMMERS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK. THE STAFF HERE IS GREAT AND YOU ALL BECOME ONE BIG FAMILY. YOU DO HAVE TO PRAY ONCE A DAY ON A NORMAL WEEKDAY AND IT KIND OF SUCKS BUT YOU WILL MAKE THE BEST FRIENDS THERE THAT YOU WILL JUST LEARN TO SUCK IT UP. BOTH MY SISTERS WERE FORMER CAMPERS AND THEIR CAMP FRIENDS ARE TO THIS DAY THEIR CLOSEST FRIENDS. AFTER CAMP IS OVER I WILL CRY FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT ABOUT HOW MUCH I MISS IT. I ONLY HAVE 2 SUMMERS LEFT AS A CAMPER SO I NEED TO TAKE EVERY MOMENT IN THIS SUMMER AND NEXT SUMMER. IT IS SERIOUSLY THE BEST PLACE EVER AND IF YOU DONT SEND YOU KIDS THERE OR GO THERE ALREADY THEN YOU NEED TO BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT JUST MAKE FRIENDS, BUT THEY WILL MAKE A FAMILY THAT WILL BE THERE FOR THEM EVERY MOMENT OF THEIR LIFE.

Request review removalThis is a wonderful camp for families looking to send their children for a spiritually meaningful, Jewish identity-building summer. Along the way, the camp provides lots of opportunities for building social skills, sports, hiking and camping excursions, special events and trips and community service. The sports programs have been upgraded. Kids learn Torah, Hebrew and prayers effortlessly and experience the rhythms of daily Jewish life. There is nothing like it and it is awesome. The staff is, for the most part, atttentive and knowledgable. It can get clique-y especially since so many campers come back year after year. There is nothing like a Shabbat at camp - so peaceful and restful, the surroundings are beautiful and the sense of being part of a thriving Jewish community can hardly be replicated. It's not perfect but it's fun and meaningful for hundreds of Conservative Jewish campers each year. It's amazing how many former campers send their own children back to this camp.

Request review removalCamp Ramah is the best place in the world and the campers who really get into it end up loving it and making friends that they'll have forever! People say that it's ridiculous to have to pray so much, but once you're there, it's not so bad, and lots of people really find meaning in the services. Everyone is so inclusive and nice. I love everything about Camp Ramah!

Request review removalIf one is an orthodox Jew they nshould not send their children to this camp. It is far to conservative, that being said the camp itself isn't awful. Contrary to what was said before (they make you pray for half the day) they only make you pray three, which is the amount a Jewish male is required to do. As I said before it isn't for orthodox" people, but for a conservative camp its not bad.
