Raven Scouts — first-year Scout program
Raven Scouts is a dedicated first-year Scout program designed to give new Scouts a great start on rank advancement. The Morning Session focuses on hands-on instruction in knots, knife safety, map/compass, first aid, and outdoor ethics — designed for first-year campers and new Scouts. The Afternoon Senior Raven Scouts session is ideal for Scouts progressing toward First Class, focusing on advanced lashings, orienteering courses, emergency first aid, and plant/wildlife identification.
The Outback High Adventure program includes activities for older Scouts who are looking to move beyond the merit badge program into high-energy, thrilling, and FUN week-long programs. Some programs take place in the backcountry of Camp Raven Knob's 3,200-acre property, and others spend time off-site in local state parks, trails, and outposts. Scouts and Venturers must be at least 14 years of age in order to participate in Outback High Adventure programs.
Aquatics — Lake John Sobotta waterfront activities
At the Raven Knob Aquatics area, Scouts enjoy swimming, lifesaving, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, rowing, small-boat sailing, and stand-up paddleboarding. All activities take place on beautiful Lake John Sobotta, at our newly-redesigned waterfront facility in the heart of camp. Scouts age 15 and older may enroll in the rigorous American Red Cross Lifeguarding program. Successful completion of this course earns Scouts a professional lifeguarding certification from the American Red Cross.
Dining Hall — capacity, efficiency, and dietary accommodations
The Harry R. Vaughn Sr. Dining Hall, established in 2000, is capable of seating just over a thousand people in around 10 minutes. If you have any questions about dietary restrictions or special needs, the dining hall staff is happy to help. The special dietary restrictions form is available — send that form to dininghall@ravenknob.com along with any questions you may have and they'll get back to you shortly.
