Scoutcraft — Eagle Trail rank advancement for first-timers
Scoutcraft is the home to Eagle Trail, our Scout-to-First Class rank advancement program. Sessions run starting on the hour. Our program is designed for the Scouts to learn the skills, and then return to the Troop to be tested by your leadership. Eagle Trail sessions have a 20 Scout limit.
The camp is rich in wildlife and allows for the study of nature, conservation, wildlife management, woodcraft and plant science. The majestic stands of mature Redwoods and the temperate climate spell adventure for the new unit as well as seasoned units.
The Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (C.O.P.E.) is a program designed to promote teamwork, self-confidence, and the development of problem solving skills. Scouts (and a special Scoutmaster team) can work together to overcome a variety of personal and team challenges and obstacles. Designed for the older Scouts in the troop, participants can build self-esteem in many of the COPE courses offered (Project COPE, High COPE, Adult COPE & Climbing).
If you love horses, the Diamond R Corral is the place for you! Our horse program includes the Horsemanship, Animal Science & Veterinary Medicine Merit Badges and trail rides. Long pants and closed toe shoes are required for all Scouts and Adults to ride horses.
There are various camp-wide events throughout the week, when everything stops for the entire unit to come and participate as a group. Two evenings a week are devoted exclusively to troop development. Each night a different program is held: Opening Campfires, Troop Campfire Competition Night, Troop Skit Night and the Closing Campfire.
