Alumni testimonial — lifelong friendships and sportsmanship
Camp Tecumseh is the greatest place on earth. I built everlasting friendships there with some of my best friends today. Tecumseh taught me the competitive spirit of sports as well as how to be a true gentleman on and off the playing field. It taught me to play many different sports before I found out which was the right one for me.
Cabin life — lakeside cabins, counselor ratios, senior campus tents
Ten cabins, varying in size from 12–16 campers, are located lakeside. Generally there are three senior counselors and a junior counselor in each cabin. Senior campers live in large platform tents located next to the waterfront; usually four campers to each tent and the senior counselors reside on senior campus in a tent of their own. The social, emotional and spiritual health and growth of our campers is equally as important as their physical well-being. Tecumseh is non-sectarian and respects all religious preferences.
Camp Tecumseh is located in the White Mountains of New Hampshire with nearly two miles of shoreline on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee, New England's largest lake. The campus covers over 300 acres. On both sides of the main campus, wetlands, forests and streams provide an opportunity for campers to learn about and appreciate their beautiful, natural environment in a secluded and safe setting. Tecumseh also owns two islands offshore, providing a convenient destination for day and overnight camping trips.
Special events — Blue-Gray traditions and seasonal highlights
Camp Tecumseh's special events include the Blue Gray Classic, July 4th Fun and Games, Jim Gibbons Annual Track Meet, Sunday Night Beach Cook-Outs, Mini-Marathon, Ironman, Overnight Canoe and Camping Trips, and Clinic Week. The summer culminates with the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta and a Closing Ceremony for campers and their parents.
Theatre — Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, 75-year tradition
Many boys each summer choose to participate in Tecumseh's drama program that culminates each summer with the annual Gilbert and Sullivan operetta performed for parents and the public. This tradition has been going strong for over 75 years! The values of disciplined practice and teamwork are not confined to the playing fields at Tecumseh.
Parent testimonial — confidence gained, new outdoor adventures
We want to thank you again for an unforgettable summer for our son. The stories are still trickling in every now and then and they're really fun to hear. He also did some things on our family vacation (hiked a mountain and rode shot gun white water rafting) that we are sure he never would have done if he didn't have the confidence he gained through camp.
Trips program — building confidence through mountain and water trips
The goal of our trips program is not only to teach your sons how to canoe and camp, but also to instill confidence, courage, and a passion for the outdoors in them through these activities. While exploring the deep woods with skilled counselors, your sons will develop their leadership and teamwork skills, learn the value of hard work — and even practice their cooking skills. The highlight of each season is the annual trek up Mount Washington, the tallest peak in New England, at over 6,288 feet.
Ends Sunday July 11. Site also notes a limited number of 2 and 5 week options available — operator should confirm whether this session and any 5-week option are still available or replaced.
