Camp Vega's activity program is the perfect balance of safety and fun, structure and choice. We design personalized programs for each camper, helping them develop their athletic, artistic, and performance skills while discovering their best selves. Campers in Junior Camp (finishing 1st – 5th grade) submit 7 activity choices. Campers in Senior Camp (finishing 6th – 9th) submit 10 activity choices. We then create individual schedules for each camper, making sure that girls are with others from their bunk and/or age group in every activity they choose.

Vega Values — belonging and inclusivity
At Vega, it is of the utmost importance that everyone feels included, loved and accepted. There is nothing quite like 'camp spirit,' and so many opportunities to be an inclusive teammate, cabin-mate, camp-mate and friend. From daily routines like cabin clean-up, to special events like Olympics (color war), campers practice critical skills like cooperation, collaboration and effective communication. By supporting each other, campers are rewarded with a strong sense of belonging, friendships, and a bond spanning generations through traditions and shared experience.
Setting — 320 private acres, nearly two miles of Echo Lake waterfront, Fayette Maine
Camp Vega is situated on over 320 private acres with nearly two miles of lakefront, so there is lots of room to be completely out in nature while still being on our camp grounds.
Olympics (color war) — Green vs. White, runs all summer, Olympic Break event
Camp Vega's Olympics is an all summer long event. At the beginning of the summer, there is an Olympic Break, which is some extraordinary event that has ranged from creating a winter wonderland to an ice-cream truck! There are two Olympic teams, Green and White. Throughout the summer, Green and White compete in various games and events that run the range of activities at Vega, from swimming to sports to the Vega stage and beyond. Olympics culminates near the end of the summer with camper leaders demonstrating the true meaning of competition by showing gratitude for the experience and celebrating good sportsmanship above all else.
Special events — Maine beaches, Funtown Splashtown, Bar Harbor, Sunday River, Canada trips
Some of the off camp events include: two all camp trips to the Maine beaches and also to a nearby amusement park, Funtown Splashtown USA. We also offer day hikes and overnight hikes for all age-groups as well as a raspberry picking trip for the 8-10 year olds. Our older girls have extended trips to Bar Harbor, Sunday River and Canada to partake in a variety of exciting activities. At camp, we go all out celebrating the 4th of July and even have a summer Halloween!
Vega is an incredibly supportive place where girls can try new things in a safe environment. By setting goals and embracing a variety of challenges – from choosing to face a fear of heights on the Ropes course to simply being away from home – campers discover that they are incredibly capable, and that failing at something is usually not the end, but the beginning to being successful. Through their Vega experience, girls learn independence, perseverance, grit, resilience, and ultimately a strong sense of self-belief.
