New campers — instant friendships philosophy

New campers are just friends we haven't met yet!! From the very first day of camp, the staff is having their campers bond as instant friends… from being in a talent show, and cheering each other on at Battle of the groups to joining in all the sports & fun activities.

Setting & campus — 26-acre shaded property with 100-year-old trees

Five decades ago there was a beautiful 26-acre strawberry field down a mostly unpaved road called Pinebrook Road, named after the winding brook that flows through the back of the property lined with 100 year old trees. This property became known as Country Roads Day Camp and is still the greatest summer vacation for hundreds of kids every year!

Themes & shared moments

Special events — weekly themes and block scheduling by age group

Country Roads is known for our creative, immensely fun special events. Each week we have a fun and exciting theme, such as: Wet 'n Wild, Carnival, Frozen, Wipeout!, Friendship, Supersized; Marvel Superheroes, Rock Concert and Color War! We have block scheduling for all our campers; for example a camper entering 2nd or 3rd grade will participate in all our exciting special events only with the other 2nd and 3rd graders. This is a great way for them to make many new friends throughout the summer.

Staff roots — Country Roaders passing down the tradition

The majority of our group leaders and counselors who work directly with your children are 'Country Roaders.' This means they have grown up at Country Roads as campers and want to pass down their happiest years at camp to the next generation of campers. 90% of the staff has either grown up at Country Roads or have their children here at camp. It feels like a family reunion every summer!

Programs & camp life

Extended hours — supervised activities from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm

Extended Hours available from 7:00 am until 5:00 pm. Kids love extended hours because it's an extension of camp…they continue the fun, but get the whole camp to themselves. Fully supervised by an adult staff of counselors and specialists, these lucky campers enjoy: the waterpark, gaga, soccer on the turf field, aeroball, volleyball, and adventure ropes course.

Lunch program — Chris Gabriel's culinary vision, The Pitstop fruit station

Co-Director Chris Gabriel started his career almost 40 years ago as a Johnson and Wales Culinary School Graduate. He literally built 'The Pitstop', an all-day Fruit Station where campers could refuel throughout the day on watermelon, apples, oranges, bananas and strawberries. Chris travels to all the food truck festivals in NJ and he scouts out the favorite new trends…more great meals every summer.
