My kids, aged 11 and 13, really enjoyed camp Doublecreek. This is the 1st camp where both kids had a great time without any complaints. They came home very excited to tell me all about their day.
This camp has very rude campers. My little brother came to sitt in the back of the bus and they started cussing at him! The counsolas did almost nothing about it too! The councilors always putt you under alot of pressure. I would deffinatly not recomend this camp! Never going back!
ive been going to this camp since i was 7, i am now 14 and i love it!!! theres something to do for everyone. you certainly get your moneys worth!!! I am going to countinue going to this camp as a CIT, i dont want to leave this place.
Love this camp having nothing bad to say on the standpoint of a camper. I can not say for sure but management seems to be flexible, my mom is kind of up tight with things and never had a problem in the 12 combined years me an my older brother went there. But what i can say for sure is management is nice kind and really cares for every kid that goes to camp there. Is a great camp for all ages especially kids that are active. Has taught me some of the most valuable lessons I know about team work, getting along with everyone, and seeing hard work pay off. One of the best times a kid can have over the summer. Memories that will stick with the kids for life, at least mine did.
I have spent every summer there as I have grown up. IT is an great time and I have had great experinces that i would not trade for any thing. The counslers are always nice, funny, and have great idesa to make the activties fun. There are great activities for younger kids. But they added new activites for the 6th graders and up. It is a great camp for kids who love activity, but if you child does not like to run around OUTSIDE or take a cool dip in the pool this camp is not for them. Some say mangment is rude and won't bend at alll. But this is not true, there have been many times my mom has had to change things and the always do it. I Have LOved tis camp the 9 years I have gone.
My son went in June 2006...would not go back the following year. The counselors yelled a lot at the kids and the day I spent at the camp, I was surprised at the lack of supervision and very uneven quality of counselors. The bus ride, very young kids sat with older kids who yelled and harassed them with bad language with no intervention by the counselors. Again, primary problem seems to have been counselors yelling and not knowing how to interact with kids, though the facility seems fine if nothing special. Would be good if they had at least one air conditioned area.
I spent every summer of my younger years at Camp Doublecreek and loved every minute of it. Counselors were friendly and fun! Lots of activities for every age group and a super fun way to spend your summer. Handwashing, really? I mean, c'mon, we were given every opportunity to clean up...it's probably not a good idea to send counselors into restrooms with kids to make sure they wash their hands.
This camp is awsome and they have alot of new activites for the 6 and up group such as paintball and a ropes course. With all the same great activities for the younger kids such as archery, tumbuling and swiming and everyone loves horseback
it is really fun when u get to 6 and up group but theres really nothing to do i mean u have a large group of friends in that group so thats the main part bout that camp and none of the activitys we do are fun but ride horses is the best well for me atleast and then u go eat food and have snacks with out washing ur hands and excatally how many ppl have touched those horses and what have they been in and all tha dirt thats on them!! eww gross!!!
The staff that I interacted with seem uninterested and not very concerned about what I was talking about. I got the impression that I was given the 'standard, pat' answers. The facilities are old but well-kept, especially the pool. Minimal attention given to handwashing before snacks and meals. This is a concern because there are over 300 kids per session and they also have an 'ag' center where the kids handle animals. Need more water fountains because there are no air conditioned buildings and it gets hot in the summer. Transportation buses are driven by young counselors. I would have preferred to have seen more seasoned drivers. Base cost is fine but there are a lot of add-ins.
