Check-in — what first-timers can expect on arrival day
Arriving at Geneva Glen Camp on Check-In day is an exhilarating experience for campers. Newcomers might arrive restless from a sleepless night, filled with nervous excitement and brimming with questions. Meanwhile, seasoned campers buzz with anticipation, eager to dash off to their dorms or cabins, reconnect with friends, and greet their counselors. Upon arrival, you'll be warmly welcomed by our experienced and friendly Staff. They are well-versed in guiding families through the bustling check-in process, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
Activities — senior elective and off-campus programs
Tailored for campers in 7th grade and older, these programs empower Seniors to personalize their schedules with a diverse array of elective and creative activities that extend beyond the core curriculum. Examples from previous years include adventures in National Forest lands, climbing 14ers, overnight horseback riding excursions, practical wilderness survival skills, animal tracking, songwriting, poetry workshops, and swing dancing.
Setting — 600 acres in the Colorado mountains, Indian Hills
Geneva Glen Camp is located in Indian Hills, CO — a 600-acre property in the Colorado mountains. The camp is a permittee of the Pike and San Isabel National Forests. From Denver, take U.S. 285 South to the Indian Hills exit.
Knighthood is the oldest and most traditional theme at Geneva Glen, taking place mid-summer. This session delves into the rich Arthurian tales, focusing on personal growth and character development. Traditional ceremonies, both poignant and intellectually stimulating, punctuate the camp experience. Campers face challenges in embodying their best selves and cultivating timeless traits like responsibility, courage, patience, and humility. The session culminates in the esteemed Court and Induction ceremonies, a highlight and tradition of camp.
Christa began attending Geneva Glen when she was six years old. A camper for nine summers and on staff for nine more, she served as GG's Assistant Director since 2008 and assumed the Interim Executive Co-Director role in 2021. Reid started his camp career at Geneva Glen in 1987 and was a camper for ten years. From 2006-2021, he served as GG's Administrative Director and in 2021 assumed the Interim Executive Co-Director role before becoming the permanent Co-Director in 2022.
Evening activities — Council Fire and themed events
Every evening features fun and engaging activities designed to ensure a memorable experience. Twice each session, we host our Council Fire — a cherished tradition where campers gather for songs, skits, storytelling, and more. Special theme-related evenings add a unique flavor to the session. These include Rendezvous for American Heritage, Pulling of the Sword, Coronation, Court & Induction for Knighthood, and Chautauqua — a celebration of global cultures during World Friendship.
The goal of providing tuition assistance to attend Geneva Glen Camp is to ensure that camp is financially accessible to all children (both new and current campers) through support generously donated by our Camp Family each year. Tuition assistance (full or partial tuition) is awarded to campers who might not otherwise be able to attend Geneva Glen. The purpose of the program is to eliminate financial barriers and expand access to the full Geneva Glen experience. The tuition assistance application process is confidential, and recipients are only disclosed to the Geneva Glen enrollment team.
