Camper testimonial — lifelong friendships formed at IGC
"I met so many of my closest friends at IGC. One of which is my friend Payton who I met summer of 2008. My twin and I are from NJ and Payton is from CT. Our parents would meet halfway and drop one of us off to go stay the weekend with each other until we could drive."
Global community — campers from all 50 states and 60+ countries
While our world-class campus is nestled in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of PA, IGC is a vibrant, global community. Every summer we welcome gymnasts from all 50 states and over 60 countries!
Nestled in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, International Gymnastics Camp has been uniting 60 Countries Through One Passion Since 1971! From the gyms to the cabins, from the kitchen to the high ropes course, every aspect of our campus is held to our IGC standards of excellence, ensuring our campers have the best summer camp experience.
Cabin of the Week — tradition rewarding spirit and cleanliness
The points accrued throughout the week will contribute to 'Cabin of the Week'. Cabin of the Week is a prestigious award that is won by the cabin that has collected the most points across all aspects of camp life. Points come from the cleanliness in your cabin, embracing the theme of the week, the challenges at each recreation activity every day, the evening activities such as the Handstand + Strength & Flexibility Contest and Cabin Cheers. The winners of Cabin of the Week get a pizza party in the canteen after social hour on Friday evening.
Camper testimonial — 6-year sweatshirt tradition, returning with best friend
"My favorite memory from last year at IGC was getting my 6-year sweatshirt. I've been going to IGC with my best friend Rebecca since we were 7 years old. Thank you for all of the incredible memories, and thank you for the sweatshirt that has so much more meaning than people think."
Parent testimonial — safety confidence and welcoming staff
"I would like to say a big 'Thank You' to the entire IGC staff. From the moment we arrived, every single person she came in contact with made her feel welcome. Your warmth and friendliness made her feel at home and made me feel more comfortable about leaving her. I knew she was in good hands."
Parent testimonial — safety confidence, skill development, returning next year
"My husband and I were confident that not only would our only child have a great week, learn new skills and most importantly was safe! She definitely will be back next year!"
Cabin accommodations — air-conditioned, private bathrooms, counselors live in
Campers are housed by age to ensure the best social and emotional environment and to allow new friendships to be formed with campers from around the world. Our chalet-style cabins are air-conditioned and include fully equipped, private bathroom facilities. Two-three caring counselors live in each cabin and are tasked with making the cabin a home-away-from-home for each camper while they are here. Counselors take an active role in each camper's day: from wake-up to meals, to recreational activities, to just getting to know each camper as an individual.
Food allergies & dietary needs — nut-sensitive, no shellfish, sealed meal program
At IGC, we are pleased to offer a delicious and nutritious buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily. There are ample choices at our 20 ft long salad/wrap bar and many hot food options available at each meal. If your camper has allergies that require an EpiPen or has dietary sensitivities such as egg, milk, celiac, gluten-free, kosher, or other specific needs for health, safety, or religious reasons, we are happy to work with you to accommodate their needs. Our buffet offers a wide variety of safe options, including many naturally gluten-free choices, and we do not use nuts or nut products in meal preparation. We strive to maintain a nut-sensitive environment, and no shellfish is served at camp.
Cabinmate requests — policy and reciprocal matching
You can indeed request a cabin mate! For the equity of all our wonderful campers, our IGC cabinmate request policy allows for a camper to request one cabinmate within approximately 1 year's age range of the other camper, and the request must be reciprocated. We do not guarantee cabinmate requests but do our best to make sure they are honored.
Food safety — ServSafe certified chefs and kitchen staff
Our Chefs and Kitchen Staff are trained and certified through ServSafe, the education division of the National Restaurant Association and the national leader in food safety certification. We are proud to say that we require not just one, but all our Chefs and Kitchen Staff to have undergone either the ServSafe Food Protection Manager or the ServSafe Food Handler training.
Health Center — 24/7 staffing with nurses and athletic trainers
International Gymnastics Camp's centrally-located health center is staffed 24 hours a day with Registered Nurses, Certified Athletic Trainers, and Athletic Training Support Staff. If a camper is injured or becomes ill and is out of activity for more than a few hours, we will notify the family and work together with the parents to provide the best possible care for the gymnast. Our registered nurses are responsible for the dispensing of all camper medications — secured in the Health Center at all times.
Homesickness — guidance on letter-writing tone for parents
When writing e-letters focus on camp and how excited you are to hear about the sleep away camp, the gymnastics, and the new friends they have made. Refrain from expressing anxious feelings about time away from home, even with the best of intentions. Giving children something to worry about will increase the likelihood of nervousness or homesickness.
