Clues to fit

Parent testimonials — enrollment decision, maturity, making friends

"Sending Matthew to Liberty Lake was the single best decision that we ever made in our son's life." – K.D., Lumberton, NJ. "My son made a ton of new friends. He has shown more maturity and even makes his bed now!" – Stella M, Princeton.

Reviews — shy campers finding their crowd, friendships that last

Many parents describe Liberty Lake as the place where their child finally found 'their crowd.' Reviews often mention shy campers coming out of their shell, friendships that last all year, and kids feeling more confident in new social situations.

Freedom of Choice — how the elective program works

Through our innovative Freedom of Choice elective program, Liberty Lake campers experience their choice of enrichment activities all summer long, one week at a time. Each week, campers and parents look at the upcoming weekly list of elective choices, log in to their CampMinder account or Campanion app to update their weekly Top 10 List in order of preference, then show up on Monday morning eager to find out what they got. With kids choosing their own destiny, they come excited to participate and learn new skills.

Freedom of Choice — over 60 electives, all in one camp

Instead of cobbling together a crazy-quilt schedule of à la carte specialty camps for each of your kids — sports, theater, art, STEM, etc. — diverse interests can be fulfilled at one camp. Our enrichment-style programming provides a stable summer experience for families: no ridiculous carpool/driving schedules (we do the driving), no fast food or skipped lunches (we do the healthy cooking), and this specialty camp comes complete with swim lessons and undeniable fun.

Adventure activities — Tower of Power, High Ropes, Ziplines, Polar Bear Club

Liberty Lake's unique outdoor facility and elective program gives campers the opportunity to choose activities that may take a little bit of bravery — and that's a good thing. Climb our legendary 25-foot rock wall — the Tower of Power. Hook yourself to cables up in the trees on our state-of-the-art High Ropes Adventure Vertical Playground, along with a one-of-a-kind Giant Swing and Ziplines across the lake and back. Go boating on Liberty Lake with paddle boats, paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, and more. Join the Polar Bear Club as we jump into the lake each morning, bouncing on the water trampoline.

Themes & shared moments

Spirit events — Color War, Camp-a-Palooza, Yacht or Not, Halloween Day

Color War — our annual 3-day, all-camp competition in which the entire camp splits into three teams for three extra-exciting days of athletic, creative and performance competitions — while teaching important skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship. Color War brings out the best in campers and team members, creating memories that last a lifetime. Other annual camper favorites include Yacht or Not, Tug o' War in pudding and Jell-O, Camp-a-Palooza (an all-afternoon music and arts festival), Halloween Day with a Haunted Trail, and Wilderness Overnights.

Growing confidence & friendships

Five Star-Points of Character — Independence, Integrity, Aspiration, Teamwork, Friendship

The Liberty Lake camp experience is way more than child care, way more than 'fun!' At Liberty Lake, we preach and teach character — the behaviors and skills sought out by parents, schools, and future employers. We teach these values while building community, with everyone feeling valued and seen, and willing to push beyond their perceived limits. The Liberty Lake Core Values / Star-Points of Youth Development are: Independence, Integrity, Aspiration, Teamwork, Friendship.

Founder Andy Pritikin — background and ACA leadership

The heart and soul of Liberty Lake is our day camp founder, Andy Pritikin. As a father, teacher, coach, and summer camp industry leader, Andy has been creating an atmosphere of growth, positivity, and belonging since starting the LLDC in 2002. His commitment to young people extends beyond Liberty Lake — Andy is Past President of the American Camp Association, also serving as professional development chair and conference chair of the largest gathering of camp professionals in the world.

Dietary accommodations — Dietary Specialist works with Health Center and catering team

It is our pleasure to make necessary accommodations for unique dietary needs. Our Dietary Specialist and Health Center staff work hand in hand with our catering team and group staff to ensure that needs are met for lunch, snacks, and edible programs in which food is involved. Please let us know if your child is dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free, kosher, vegetarian or has any other dietary concern, so that we can best accommodate your child. Because of our allergy controls, no outside food is allowed at Liberty Lake.

Food program — hot lunch included, nut-free, dietary accommodations

Liberty Lake is committed to a healthy food program, including only whole wheat breads, no trans-fat, a fresh salad bar and fruit every day. We are also a nut-free zone and use SunButter for our 'PB&J sandwiches.' Bagels are available in the morning and at lunch, fresh fruit is available all day, ice pops or ice cream is offered before dismissal, and campers love getting Slushies for special occasions. All food and snacks are included in the camp tuition! Campers make their lunch selection each morning with their counselors, and when lunchtime rolls around, their meal is brought to their table — tasty and fresh, with self-serve seconds available.
