Setting — Nobles campus on the Charles River, Dedham MA
For the first two years, campers spent sunny days swimming and diving from an anchored float in the Charles River. On rainy days, campers gathered in the school's small gymnasium, which has since doubled in size and now offers expansive facilities where the campers play and learn.
Grades 8–9 program — increased independence and off-campus travel
As our campers mature, our programs offer more opportunities to increase personal growth, social development, and leadership skills. Campers earn the privilege of traveling, based on their behavior with both peers and staff, in and out of camp. Expectations increase with each age level as campers are given more freedom and responsibility. Our 8th- and 9th-graders travel off campus at least twice a week.
Nobles Day Camp is all about choices. We believe that allowing campers to choose their own activities helps with their personal growth, encourages them to try new things, and develops decision-making skills. Every day, campers join coed groups of children entering the same grade next fall. Each hour, campers select an activity from a range of age-appropriate options. Although counselors encourage children to try new activities, the final decision rests with the camper.
We are in the process of choosing snacks that meet the USDA CACFP nutrition standards, which include a greater variety of fruit, more whole grains, and less added sugar and saturated fat. We provide a morning snack for all campers.
