Co-ed camps offer a comfortable family atmosphere that is simply not attainable at unisex camps, or separate camps which bill themselves as Brother/Sister camps to attract siblings. While Birchmont's activities and athletics are not co-ed, we do host a range of special events, activities, trips, and meals which are co-ed. Our campers share the facilities and pass each other throughout their day, emphasizing an 'at-ease' atmosphere. Many siblings and cousins have found great common ground at Birchmont, and the shared experience is one which will carry them through years and distance.

Bunk community — how cabin life builds social skills
The Bunk Family: Creating a micro-community where children learn to support one another, share space, celebrate each other's successes, resolve conflicts when they arise, and lift each other up after a failure.
Setting — Lake Wentworth, 300-acre campus, Class A water
Located on a magnificent 300-acre campus along the shores of Lake Wentworth in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, Birchmont's campus stands out even among the premier camps in the country. Lake Wentworth is rated Class A by the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services — the top rating given, meaning the water is exceptionally clean. The lake features a natural sandy bottom, minimal boat traffic, and protected wildlife areas. Birchmont enjoys nearly a half mile of private sandy beach, with summer water temperatures averaging in the 80s.
Every night after evening activity we select a handful of campers to assist one of our adult staff in delivering 'Cookie Patrol' on one of our large touring golf carts. Evening snacks are delivered to each cabin much to the delight of the campers delivering the snacks to those receiving! Snacks are always individually packaged servings, low sugar content and range from selections such as Smart Pop Popcorn, Pretzels, and Health Bars.
Option Sunday — rest, reflection, and free play tradition
Option Sundays are a cherished tradition at Birchmont. We get to sleep in and, after breakfast, we come together as a community to reflect on our camp values and celebrate the week's successes and achievements. After that, campers enjoy a day filled with free play and our famous special events which include both hallowed camp traditions and outside entertainment alike. Some examples include DJ Socials, a Traveling Zoo, Sunday Brunch, The Talent Show, The Color Run, and the ever popular Mid-Summer Event!
Confidence-building philosophy — the Quiet Hour question
At every camper's first campfire, we pose a defining question: What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail? That question sets the tone for the summer ahead. Within a supportive structure and a deliberately designed program, campers are encouraged to stretch beyond their comfort zones, take healthy risks, and discover what they are capable of achieving.
Family-owned leadership — four generations, Children First
Pierce Camp Birchmont has been continuously owned and directed by our family for four generations. Unlike many camps these days, we are not owned by private equity; every decision at Birchmont is made with one guiding principle that has defined our family's commitment to camping through the years: Children First! As parents of Birchmont campers ourselves, you have our promise that we will take care of your children as if they are our own.
