WB Surf Camp's Senior Camper positions are designed to help our older and more experienced campers develop leadership skills, so as to serve in the role of a future instructor or camp counselor. We give hiring preference to past senior campers and love to give them jobs when they reach our age requirements! Requirements: must be 16+, minimum of 1 previous session in one of our overnight camps, two letters of recommendation. One Senior Camper per session is accepted so apply early.
Surf instruction philosophy — progressive methodology and confidence building
It's amazing how the proper surfing instruction from our world class coaches will accelerate your learning curve and remove some of the frustration most beginners face. Beginners comfortably learn skills one step at a time in small group settings. Our industry-leading student-to-instructor ratio allows us to give individualized attention while simultaneously challenging campers to achieve their greatest surfing goals.
Ocean Safety Certification — in-house counselor training program
This certification program was designed to teach our coaches and camp counselors important safety information regarding an ever changing ocean environment. The course teaches a sound understanding of beach safety, basic first aid skills, and ocean rescue techniques. WB Surf Camp believes that all of our counselors and coaches should have a basic understanding of ocean dynamics, water safety, sun protection, and basic first aid to help prevent injuries and beach related fatalities. It is our hope to help eliminate rip current related fatalities along area beaches through the education of our clients and campers.
Student-to-instructor ratio — 3:1 across all programs
All WB Surf Camps have a minimum student-to-instructor ratio of 3:1, and are staffed with highly trained coaches. Our team consists of trained educators with combined teaching in the thousands of hours, and offer programs appropriate for all levels of experience and all types of students.
