Can't rate this camp high enough - my 10-year old is having the time of his life this summer. Camp combines all sorts of activities (sports, arts/crafts) and all kinds of kids from across the US and Europe. Less structured than some camps but kids can focus on what they love during the summer. Counselors are tremendous. Active CIT program. Many counselors and CITS were longtime Wigwam campers so they understand what the camps is about. Bob Strauss (camp director) is superb.
We were hoping a summer camp experience would help our ten year old son learn to interact more with others, boost his self esteem and try new things. We got that and so much more. The changes were apparent after only a few weeks when we saw him on visiting day. He was much more relaxed and easy going; didn't agitate as easily and demonstrated enormous patience with his younger sister. Now two months later, we celebrate a maturing young man who seems more comfortable in his skin and better able to navigate his surroundings with ease. Wigwam is his new second home and we all look foward to many happy summers on Bear pond.
Best camp in the world no place i would rather send my kid. He went there for the first time at 8 and is still loving it today in his 7th year there. Truly amazing me and my dad went there so its a great tradition
I went here for the first time when i was eight i had never in my life gone to sleep away camp and when i got there my parents were emotional when saying goodbye to me and when it was time to say goodbye i was already out playing basketball with one of my friends who was in my bunk that year and has been in my bunk since thats the type of place this is it is a camp that is VERY well built to keep All campers occupied and having fun for a full seven weeks and the type of friendships made at this camp is amazing these will last forever and everyone fits in no matter what like one of my best friends from camp has cp but is still a friend of mine and gets along with everyone else at camp and another part of this special camp that AMAZES me isn how everyone is from everywhere spain, france, louisiana, california, etc. this camp is my TRUE home away from home and all year all i think about is coming back to this special camp and bob strauss you are the best camp director EVER!wigwam is the #1
I spent four summers at Wigwam and I had a really good time. Going to Wigwam every summer is like coming back to a second home, where you can always enjoy new stuff though. The staff and the site are really great. I cannot but recommend this incredible place.
It is the greatest place on earth. When you are there, be you a new camper or a veteran counselor, it feels like you are part of a family. Everyone is kind and caring, and each summer is filled with unforgettable memories. It is a place where almost anyone can make friends that are not just summer friends, but friends that are talked to year round. The camp Director Bob Strauss is by far the nicest man alive. He will take care of any problems personally, and despite having a busy job he is always willing to talk to a homesick camper. After one summer at Wigwam, it will feel like a second home. For many campers, it occupies their thoughts and dreams year round. To describe it in one word, it is warmth. It is a place filled to the brim with caring counselors and fun times. To many it is a camp, but to those who call themselves Wigwamers, it is a home.
This will be my 9th year at Camp Wigwam and definitely not my last. I have grown into who I am today, summer by summer, due to the staff of Camp Wigwam and the great community that is built. Our fearless camp director, Robert W Strauss, has kept and improved upon a wonderful place and thing for so many. The friendships you build and the connections you make will truly last a lifetime, and extend far beyond the borders of the US. It's truly the greatest thing that has ever happened to me, and easily the best choice I ever made was to go to Camp Wigwam.
this camp is the best. this is goin to be my seventh summer, and i love it. all the people are nice, and the food is great. if u go, you'll have the time of your life
